What would you consider STTN? I've been telling everyone that asks that DS has never STTN. Then, last night, he woke up at 3, wide awake, talking, playing with my hair and laughing. He took FOREVER to get back to sleep. That's the first time that has ever happened (he's 15m). It occurred to me that maybe that is what parents refer to as a night waking. Maybe Dez has been technically STTN this whole time and I'm just setting my bar too high. He wakes up frequently with little whimpers - sometimes cries, sometimes saying "Mama", "help", or "noms", rolls over to latch on (I help him) and falls back asleep at the breast. He rolls onto his back anywhere from 30 sec to a few minutes after latching on. Would you call this STTN? He's never 100% awake. WDYT?

Re: If You Bedshare...
When I don't remember waking up for 6 hours.
Seriously, she never STTN in our bed, I'd get 3-4 hour stretches but she was such a light sleeper that any move or sound would wake her.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!

This is a tough one for me to answer because I'm in the same boat. DS stirs frequently but falls back asleep shortly after latching (last night was every hour from 2:30 - 6:30, these molars need to come in stat!) I think his sleep is sufficient, but I'm not sure I'd call it STTN because if I wasn't there to latch him immediately I know it would be a full waking.
DD wakes up once or twice and kind of tosses and turns and whimpers a bit, and then I nurse her back to sleep. She doesn't cry and she's never fully awake. I still don't consider that STTN.
My older daughter (in a crib) will sometimes wake up crying for a minute, and then put herself back to sleep. I consider that STTN.
I am in the same molar boat. from 3-wake-up time it's constant nursing.
Also, I think not STTN is when they are awake long enough to wake you up enough so you can't fall back asleep.
my lo wakes to nurse quite a bit (3-4 times a night at almost 13 mos) but most of the time I don't wake enough to "wake up"
