Giving it a shot!

So I used to follow the Following awake time, then we moved and everything just got messed up. This awake time between naps was the greatest thing. I plan on trying it out again today. I hope it works again!

Guideline for Awake time for babies
Newborn 50-60 mins
1 month 60 mins-hour and 15
2 months 1 hour and 15 - 20 mins
3 months 1 hour and 20 - 30 mins
4 months 1 hour and 45 - 2 hours
5 months 2 hours - 2.25 hours
Late 5 months/early 6 months 2.25-2.5 hours
6.5 - 7 months 2.75-3 hours. Some are getting more.
8 - 10 months 3 - 4 hours. Some are getting more.
11 - 12 months 3.5 -4.5 hours. Some are getting more if moved early to 1 nap

*Remember: It takes a baby around 20 minutes to fall asleep and this time is considered awake time, so plan accordingly!

I loosely follow this but I am not good at getting LO to sleep without nursing her...so I pretty much have to nurse her every 2 hrs or if we're out she'll fall asleep in her car seat/in my arms...wherever.

This.  Some days I can  get into the rhythm on the eat, play, sleep routine, but some days (like today) he's completely out of sync and his feedings and sleep schedule coincide.

If nothing else, this was eye opening to DH who, when DS would fuss because he was obviously tired, would rile him up even more because he wanted to make him happy.  That worked for 10 minutes or so until the super duper overtired meltdown hit.

  • Is this how long babies 'should' be awake between naps???

Surprise  According to that, my daughter is 1 year old Indifferent  She can stay awake for over 6 hours without going nuts...  The doctor has commented on her being extremely awake and ahead in her development ... I wonder if her sleeping less than other babies (according to this) has anything to do with it.  She sleeps very well during the nights, but is not STTN.  She falls asleep around 10-11PM and wakes up for BF around 5-6AM and then off and on until 9AM when we get up.  I never thought there was anything wrong with it until now ... gotta read up on this.  Btw, she ONLY falls asleep while BFing ... she's absolutely unable to fall asleep on her own.
