2nd Trimester

Had an elective gender ultrasound done @ 15 weeks!!!

I am sooo excited!!  I went all by myself  (did not tell anyone) to get a $60 2D ultrasound and the tech was able to tell immediately that I am carrying a little boy @ 15weeks 2days!!  I knew it!!  I took the intelligender at 10 weeks and it said boy plus the chinese predicter said boy, so now I am a firm believer in all of those silly little tests!! haha, I love it!!!  I have 2 stepdaughters already, so my husband is going to be ecstatic to hear the news that he is getting a son.  It is actually my mom's birthday coming up next week and she happens to be coming to see us from out of town today, so I am going to pretend we are giving her an early birthday present at dinner tonight and I am going to say the gift is "from the both of us"  (i even told my husband that we got her something and to just go with it - haha) When she opens the present she will find the ultrasound pictures and a little boy onesie that says "grandma bait" on it!! lol  They are both going to be sooo suprised I can't wait!!  3 more hours!! :)

  • Thats exciting, but if I were your husband I'd be upset that you 1. went without giving him the chance to join and 2. didnt tell him the news BEFORE your mom. JMO.

I was wondering the same thing. That's a big moment to have by yourself.

totally agree with this.  I would find a cute way to tell DH privately before you tell your mom.

  • Hate to repeat what everyone else has said but the first reaction I had when I read this was "she went alone, she isn't married?" Then I saw your profile pic... my hubby would've been sad.  The look on his face when he saw his son at our ultrasound was priceless... I would tell him privately unless you know he won't mind.

This.  My husband would probably be pissed if he wasn't there to see it as well.  It would really hurt his feelings.

  • Don't the baby's genitals look the same, whether boy or girl, at 15 weeks?Huh? I wouldn't go out and buy anything blue for another five weeks if I were you...

Nope, genitals are totally distinct at this point, especially in the case of a boy.
  • Since you are so excited (as would I be) and the popular opinion on here is a little down, I will keep my opinon to myself. CONGRATS on your little man! How Exciting! Party!!!

  • I found out the gender of both my boys without DH. He didn't mind at all. He just told me to call him with the results. And I was told girl at 15 weeks with Ds1. But the tech said to come back in two weeks to confirm. Sure enough she was wrong. Clearly it was a boy at 17 weeks.

  • 15 weeks is still early for the SEX of the baby to be 100% accurate, especially done at an elective u/s place and not by your Dr....i wouldn't be giving anything to your mom just yet.  and my DH would be pissed and hurt if he wasn't there with me when i did find out at 20 weeks.  not cool.

  • I think it is going to be a fun surprise!!!  And, I love the name Henry/Hank.  Congrats!!!

  • Just got back.... i thought the same thing about not telling hubby beforehand so at the last minute and ended up telling my hubby dinner- it was over the phone but he was completely thrilled!!  He didn't care at all that I went by myself and even had a feeling I was "up to something"...  Thanks for all the congrats... it was so fun to reveal the gender tonight!! We are so happy!!

  • Happy for you and congrats on your little boy on the way. I'd be iffy if it was 100% accurate or not, they made me wait until 20 weeks because they said it wasn't accurate enough until then. Also, that was such a HUGE moment for my husband and I to share together, he would have been absolutely heartbroken if I would have gone without him. But, if yours is okay with it, then that's great for you guys and I hope you are able to have a great moment together celebrating the Little boy on the way!

Too funny about the gender testers- I didn't do any of them, but did look at the chart- and it predicted Girl, and was wrong :)

    Congrats again!
