I was wondering if anyone had heard of a good book to explain breastfeeding to my 6 yr old daughter? I have been trying to find a good way explain it to her, without getting embaressed. I don't know why I have such a hard time with this, I know it's perfectly natural, but i guess since she's so old, I feel like Im about to have the sex talk with her. Im hoping there is something out there that will help explain it in a simple way. She keeps talking about how she can't wait to help feed the baby her bottle, and I want to let her know she may not be able to for a while until I establish BF. TIA

Just don't get into what other uses breasts or for but explain that all animals feed their babies from their teats, and we do the same, that's what makes us mammals. Let her know there are other ways she can take care of the baby like helping with diapers, putting on clothes, playing, etc and that those things are "way more fun" than feeding a bottle.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
I've heard a lot of good things about this book, but I haven't gotten it yet:

Mac and cheese lover!
My 6 year old stepdaughter had seen baby animals drinking from momma animals... so I explained it like that. She knows milk comes out and it's called breastfeeding, but she doesn't know EXACTLY how it comes out. I tell her it's sort of like a straw. That seems to satsfy her curiosity. I think it astounds her, though. She knew she drank milk from her mom as a baby, but now that she sees her little sister breastfeeding, it's just amazing to her, lol.
I never used a book. And FWIW, for the first month she pretty well ignored her sister and just went about life. Now that she's more awake/alert and things, she helps. She's a big help at our babysitters with feeding, calming, etc, and she likes that.
