When I called to check in on Emily this am, the charge nurse said that we needed to set up our rooming in date! OMGOMGOMG!!! It's like they really do think she will be home around the 1st. I couldn't decide if I wanted to laugh or cry or barf LOL I just got done with her nursery and everything this weekend and we are installing the carseat this coming weekend. Holy bananas y'all!! I just had to share LOL What kind of experiences did y'all have, if you roomed in with LO?
On a different note, my supply has dried up. Yaa... A little annoyed but kind of guiltily relieved? I have 4months worth of BM in my deep freezer so at least she won't get formula until around 7-8 months old. Ohh well... Maybe BFing will work with our next LO. I feel like we've cleared enough hurdles this go around so I'm ok with it. I'm going to go pick up a few different types of bottles today when I return some things to BRU.
Re: Rooming In
That's great news.
In my experience we roomed in with DD for about 12 hours. They just wanted to make sure we understood what we were to do with each feeding, etc. We also took Infant CPR too.
Good news! That is super exciting!
Our NICU required between 12 and 24 hrs for rooming in. But, I have a friend who has a baby in the NICU right now and they required 2 nights. Both mine and hers are on monitors, so it is just a different policy. Her hospital also doesn't allow hats on in open cribs.
We'll miss you sweet Debbie Girl (4.21.12) and sweet Cindy Girl (8.9.12)

Congratulations! That is so exciting! My NICU did not require rooming in unless your baby was coming home on a monitor so I have no experience there.
I started to dry up around the 10 week mark, I think the stress just took its toll. The boys are doing awesome on formula though and I'm sure your LO will do just fine when you do have to make the switch.
Congrats again!
Great news! We didn't have to room in before she came home, but I did because I wanted to (one of us could room in anytime she was in the NICU since each baby has their own room, and each room has a bed/couch thing that can house one person).
I realized how noisy she was at night, and barely got any sleep. That's pretty much all I got out of the rooming in process.
We lived 10mins away from the hospital, so I didn't feel the need to room in more than once, just because it was easier to sleep in my own bed and take a shower in my own bathroom.
BFP #3 via cancelled IUI ~ C (2lb 3oz; HELLP) 5/16/11
BFP #4 via the natural (free!) way ~ E (8lb 11oz) 9/13/12
That's such great news! Good luck!
We didn't do rooming in because we didn't come home on a monitor so I don't have any advice there.
Congrats on getting such a great supply of milk for her-she will benefit from that in so many ways! When you run out, I'm sure she will thrive on formula too.
Our precious girl, born at 27 weeks.
Hooray hooray hoorayyyyyy!!!!!! That is SO wonderful!
We roomed in overnight - spent about 24 hours there. I took a couple days off from the hospital right before I roomed in to get everything in order, and that really helped a LOT going into it. It was nice going in with a clear head and knowing that everything was in order at home.
Also? I made sure that I bought special "coming home" outfits and took lots and lots of leaving pictures. I figured that we deerved some normal after months of not normal!
I am SO happy for you. Keep us updated!
