It's so funny you asked if you were the only one dealing with them because one thing I forgot to mention in my update is that discipline is just now starting to actually work in our house and things are so much more pleasant! I don't know what happened, but time-outs and the threat of having something taking away has just *clicked* for C. When I warn/threaten him, you can actually see him pause and think about that option and then he usually changes his course.
Anyway, I just wanted to throw that out there because I think it has nothing to do with us and our handling of the situation and more about him maturing, really. It's like his little brain could finally grasp the idea of consequences.

Thank the deities! Y'all have always been a bellweather for me - it's like whatever happens in the MPD househould visits us about six weeks later. So, if there's a light at the end of this tunnel, that's good to know.
And if there isn't (N may have inherited his mommy's stubbornness along with her red hair) at least I know the kid came by it honestly.
