i pissed off a fellow parent

I had been getting emails from a realtor. The emails have been about the new CO detector laws and things. Since i work for a company that would provide these services, i figured it was work spam. So i replied to the latest email and said, "Please remove me from your mailing list"

This was her reply

"Will do sorry, i consider the parents of my sons class(mrs_____) to be friends. My mistake. And besides that, these detectors can save a child or persons life."

with her lovely picture and all her contact info for her realty business.

 

so i responded

"I am a cooridnator for a commerical and residinetial fire alarm installing company. THank you for thinking of me, i do appreciate it"

I guess when i get that email list every year, i need to remember who is who out of a 30 child class list. So i know not to think that the realtor sending me junk mail, is sending me junk mail.

    I agree she will get over it. I only know one of the parents in E's class and I would not think about checking the parents list when I get emails.

     She is pretty ballsy to reply like that. Good for you though.

    Well anything that is not solicited and not a personal message to you is actually considered spam. You handled it well and she was out of line.

    It does seem odd that they would allow using the parent email list for non-class related things. I don't think you were out of line, at all.

    I think you were totally reasonable. And I think if it had nothing to do with getting her name out she would have sent from personal email not a work one!

    Odd. I could see if she had some information she thought should go out to all the parents, and maybe asked the school or teacher to include in a newsletter or something..then the school/teacher could handle the issue...but, using the email list in this way is just strange. You did handle it well.
