Ok, so basically after smugly declaring the girl on the pre-school board who does the "cute lunch check-ins" (I posted a link awhile ago) has too much time on her hands, I have to admit something. Ever since, I've been dressing up Holly's meals at home myself, in a plight of parental inferiority..hehe. And I've found that I really, really enjoy it! (ok, and so does she..hehe)
I make her breakfast before leaving for work (she wakes up after I leave), so I feel like I'm doing something special for her, since I don't get to see her.
And I'm really having fun with it... It started with this dinner:
Then I moved on to breakfast...
Just thought I'd share! DD has gotten such a kick out of it. DH says that every morning as they come downstairs, she'll ask if there'll be a flower or a face. hehe. So far, she hasn't been a diva about it when there hasn't been--I don't do it every morning, sometimes I'll just try to make it "pretty" (like the one with the cheerios).
There are all kinds of ideas online that I plan to try. I have several cookie cutters, and got some little picks for fun "kebobs" (used one on the blueberry butterfly body).
Anyway...enjoy my waffle masterpieces. LOL.
Re: Hehe... I play with food.
I am guilty too
I love it though and seriously it doesn't take that much time! I would love to see where you get some ideas.
So far I have found a blog (cutefoodforkids.com) and I liked laptop lunches on FB and they have a photo album that has a few little ideas in there.
You are doing a great job though, I love the last two especially!
I've found some cute ideas through Pinterest (which I am officially obsessed with now!), as well as this blog.. Also, check the pre-school board for the cute lunch check in posts by brightning.. she posts them once a week or so.
But I agree--It really doesn't take that much time. I get Holly's breakfast ready in about 5 minutes.
I'm not showing that to DD. She may never eat my inferior meals again!
Seriously, though, that's awesome, Hughes! I am in total awe of your craftiness!
Those are awesome, and I bookmarked that blog!
So you inspired me to try it today with Jocelyn's lunch (she doesn't eat anything so it was hard to create something out of nothing) but I did a smiley face with a hot dog, grapes on a toothpick and apples and goldfish crackers. I showed it to her and she started to cry...ha ha!! But then she sat down and got excited and ate it all!! YAY!
Something I saw recently that I am excited about is the new Goldfish sandwich thins. It is just the sandwich thin bread in the shape of a goldfish and I have some good ideas for that! Now to get them on a good sale.
I saw those at Lowe's Foods the other day! But it was in another person's bag in the check out line..hehe. So I didn't get them (or see how much they were). But they look so cute!
