I love Abigail (Abbie) but wouldn't use it because that was the name of my dog growing up... I would probably start saying things like Good Girl Abbie! and rub her belly!
Before we found out we were Team Blue I had this feeling of regret for naming my cat Pearl! I think it would be a great name, but we couldn't very well have 2 Pearl's in our house!
Fortunately, I dogged a bullet this time around .

I love Isabella (Bella), but I would never use it because Twilight has skyrocketed it to popularity. There would be about 20 Bellas with the kid in school.. lol
I like Natalie and Hannah, but those names have been used (multiple times) in our families in the last couple years. I want something more original I guess.
I like Drew for a boy, but it sounds awful with our potential middle name and our last name. It's a tougue twister and just to hard to say!
My grandfather's name is Charles (goes by Chuck) and to be honest, I wouldn't ever want him thinking we named a child after him. We just don't have that kind of relationship
Well I really love the name Madeline, but we can't really use it because there was a famous missing child case in England where the little girl was named Madeline. Now whenever someone hears that name they think of her. I guess it's kind of like how Caylee will be viewed in the US!

Bentley - because I can't picture a 25 or 40 year old man name Bentley. I feel like it is a adorable child name...but as they grow up ...then what?!
We will be using Bentley if we have a boy. I was kind of worried about it with the Teen Mom association, but really I don't care and the Teen Mom show is going to be over sooner than later. Plus, I don't think many people that I know IRL watch the show. As a grown man, our son (if we have a son) can be called Ben. But as a child, I will be darned if someone starts calling him Ben.
The one name that I absolutely LOVE for a girl that we will not be using is Ava. It's in the top 5 for name popularity and I just have a feeling it's going to end of being the "Sarah" of my time.
Kahlil - after Kahlil Gibran - it just seems like everyone would screw it up trying to say it and never give my poor kid a moment's peace in his life.
Dalton - after Dalton Trumbo - also a cool name but no way of shortening it so that it sounds cute. And mixed wtih my last name it is too easy to sound like a drunkard....
Salome - after a beautiful friend of mine that died from cancer a few years back...but she said it herself - the name was a source of issue her whole childhood with people calling her salami
I absolutely love the name Christian for a boy but could never use it because I am atheist. It means follower of Christ and I would just feel weird using it.
Born at 26 weeks 2 days gestation, 2 pounds 2 ounces due to IC/PTL,
and after 82 days in the NICU, our little girl is home!
I love the name Wren for a girl. It doesn't meet DH's one requirement for a girl's name, which is that it has 3 syllables. I can also see the child being made fun of. But I think that it is such a beautiful name.
Before we found out we were Team Blue I had this feeling of regret for naming my cat Pearl! I think it would be a great name, but we couldn't very well have 2 Pearl's in our house!

I love the name Pearl! It's on our short list.

I love nature names, like Sage, Jade, River, etc. I LOVE those names and they are pretty well-recieved where I live, but they simply don't work with our last name. I have a noun for a last name which makes things pretty difficult.
Now that we know we're having a boy, I'm having a hard time with boy names! There are lots of boy names I like, but they are also the names of my high school boyfriends! I like the name Drew, Dominic and Joshua, but all three were high school boyfriends. Maybe the won't care or even think about it, but I would be mortified if they (or anyone else) thought we named our son after them, or even made the association. I am friends with most of them on Facebook, so it would get around. I haven't crossed them off my list completely (yet), but I'm not sure what to do!
Olive. I LOVE the name, but my last name is pronounced like burger. I don't want her to be confused with a food. I have an ironic annoying name now that I'm married and all my employees call me cheese. I wish I would have seen that one coming!

Breanna Paige I love this name, but it was a name that me and my ex talked about so I wouldn't feel right about naming my little girl this b/c I would just think of him..BLAH!
There are so many!! Most of them we don't want to use because we know people with that name. These are just a few that I can think of off the top of my head that we can't use.
Boy: Landon, Eric, Seth, Matthew, Logan,
Girl: Madeline (nn Maddie which is my dog's name), Samantha, Vanessa,

Brynn - It is the name of my parent's dog.

I feel that way about Emma. I love the name and it's super cute, but it doesn't sound like a "grown up" name.
Totally agree with this! Not to mention the whole 'Teen Mom' association with it now!
Charles nn Charlie
My grandfather's name is Charles (goes by Chuck) and to be honest, I wouldn't ever want him thinking we named a child after him. We just don't have that kind of relationship

I could never use Matilda, because my IL's have a dog who I thought was named maddy, but FIL has been calling her Matilda lately!
I could also never use Polly, even though I love the name it would sound terrible with out last name!
Brita - water filters ruined it for me
and after 82 days in the NICU, our little girl is home!
I have so many! I can't use them either bc my DH hates them or they don't go w/our long, Italian last name:
Girls: Tatum, Tabitha, Ashton
Boys: Tristan, Asher, Ryder, Chase, Gavin
I love the name Pearl! It's on our short list.
