I have a wrap that I mostly wear LO in and I love it. I have been thinking about getting a ring sling for some time now but thought maybe I didn't need it because we have a wrap. I mainly wear her in the front cross carry position with her legs out. I like the idea of something that doesn't take as long as the ring sling to get situated in. Does she have to have her feet tucked in the RS?
My LO weighs approx 14lb and is 4 months. What are the weight limits on RS?
Thanks for any input.
Re: Should I get a ring sling?
I love my ring sling. I use that and a sleepywrap, but I've been using the ring sling more since its getting so hot! Its quick to use, but doesnt distribute weight as well since its on one shoulder instead of two. However I did carry him around NYC all day on Sat and I felt fine. I carry him in it legs out tummy to tummy. We stopped doing legs in at about 2 months because he would try to stand up, with his legs out he cuddles right in.
I'll probably switch to a woven wrap once he is too big for the sleepywrap (which is going to be soon I think) and use that and a ring sling.
Yup, legs out is fine just spread the fabric from knee to knee and bring his knees up above the level of his bum for a nice safe seat. The weight limit will depend a bit on the specific fabric you get, but they can frequently go up to 35lbs.
Like PP said, they're not as comfortable for long term carrying (especially once LO is a toddler) but you can't beat the ease and convenience. I use my wraps for walks/hiking, festivals, and cleaning around the house but my ring slings are my go to carrier for quick ups and downs during errands or fussiness.
