Re: Daily Bed Rest Check-In 7/18/11 (Mon) New Posters Welcome!

  • Hey ladies, I'm sorry that I forgot to come update last week.  My baby boys are a week old now after being delivered by c/s on July 11th.  Owen James weighed 2 lbs and was 13".  Miles Reed weighed 2 lbs 8 oz was 14.25".  Both are doing well in the NICU.  Prayers and happy bed resting to all you soon to be mamas!  Congrats also to CurlingRocks! Here are some pics of the little guys on their birthday:

  • Congrats Mrs. Alice!

    Happy Monday Ladies!

    1. I work in Philanthropy/Event Planning for a Non Profit. I only work part time.

    2. Not sure as this is baby number 2 for me

    3. Ummm...I always thought it would be fun to work for a PR agency in New York.

Updates: I spent Saturday in L&D because I was having really intense and horrible cramps. Turns out they think I have another bacterial infection so I am on antibiotics...again! Ugh. Also the on call doctor thinks that I have an irritable uterus. And that the cramping will probably continue. Anyone else have this? No I am worried all the time. My Doctor told me to call if I had any cramping because it could be a sign of PTL but now I feel like I will second guess myself that it is just nothing. Advice? Words of Wisdom? I go in for my regular appointment on Wednesday so I guess I will see if my Doctor puts me on SBR.

Another update (NBR): Tomorrow is my little boy's 4th Birthday! I cannot believe how old he is. Time flies when you are having fun. I can't wait to watch him open presents and eat Spiderman cake tomorrow!

  • Congratulations, Mrs. Alice! Your boys are absolutely beautiful! May they continue to grow strong and healthy :) 1. I resigned from my job due to the bed rest issue so I'm currently a SAHW. Before that I worked in development at a University. 2. When LO arrives I'll be a SAHM. We'd like to have another child within the next couple of years so I'll be a full-time mom for a while. 3. Being a SAHM is honestly my dream job right now but down the road I'd love to own my own business. Update: I'm 35 weeks today and still pregnant! I'm so grateful and happy :)

  • Hi ladies! I'm new here - did a quick intro on Friday.

    1. I'm an insurance adjuster

    2. Yes, I carry our health insurance and DH doesn't have the option to, so I kinda have to go back to work.

    3. I've always thought I would enjoy healthcare recruiting or pharmaceutical sales. I have a MS in HR so the healthecare recruiting may actually be an option one day.Smile

    Updates:

I have a doc appt today @ 2:30p to check on the PTL and see if I'm still progressing and assess the bed rest status. I'm taking my hospital bag just in case...My regular appt is next Monday with u/s.

  • Good Morning! Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Congrats Mrs.Alice, your boys are adorable, glad to hear they are doing well!

     1. CSP83, you and I do the same thing! I've been a non-profit event planner for over 10 years now. About a year ago I cut back to part-time and now that I'm on bed rest I'm able to work a bit from home which is really nice.

    2. I will not go back to my event planning job. I'm also a licensed esthetician and I was working at a spa a few days a week before my complications started. I plan on going back to the spa sometime in January, but it will only be 2 or 3 days a week.

    3.  I really love being an esthetician, but I would love to do more make-up! I've done a few weddings but would really like to do more. I'd also love to do some print work.

Updates: I've got a doctors appointment this afternoon, she'll do an internal (lucky me!) I've got my fingers crossed for no changes! I also have to do my 1 hour glucose test, I really don't want to add GD to my list of complications!

My shower was yesterday, it was really nice and these babies got spoiled. I now have a closet full of tiny pink and blue clothes, it's definitely making this feel more real!

I'm in MN so I've been dealing with the lovely heat wave that's hit the mid-west. DH & I have been having a battle with the A/C, I'll crank it way up and the next thing I know he's turned it down again. I'm kind of glad he's away at work today and I can turn the house into an ice box:))

  • Today's Questions:

    1. What do you do for a living?
I'm an ultrasound tech. I work in a breast care center, but I can also do general ultrasound (abdomen, pelvic, thyroid, OB/GYN).

    2. Do you plan on going back to work after your LO arrives?
Yes, I'll be going back to work after my 6 week mat leave. I'll be using the daycare we have at the hospital I work at, so Cael will be coming with me "to work" in the morning, and going home with me after work in the evening.

    3. If you could choose any job on the world aside from the one you already do, what would it be?
I love my profession, so I can't think of anything else I'd want to do.

  • Congrats mrs alice on your beautiful baby boys. I hope you will be able to take them home soon
  • Congrats to etoyama for making it to 35 weeks! That is so exciting to have made it so far, I'm sure you feel some relief! Congrats to Mrs. Alice, too- so glad to hear that your boys are here and doing well. I hope their stay in the NICU is uneventful and they get to come home as healthy, happy, hungry little boys :)

Mrs.Loos- yay for the shower! Isn't it such a welcome distraction to be able to visit and socialize? Focusing on the adorable outfits and toys, etc is a great way to stay positive and get through this tough time.

    Today's Questions:

    1. What do you do for a living? I am a surgical consultant for an orthopedic company.

    2. Do you plan on going back to work after your LO arrives? I wish I had a desire to go back- I love my job and am blessed to have been able to do what I do, but I just don't see myself going back. The job is very rewarding, but I want to focus on my lo once he gets here- I think that will become my new rewarding career. I may go back pt, but only if DH can watch lo while I'm working (he owns his own business, so he has lots of flexibility).

    3. If you could choose any job on the world aside from the one you already do, what would it be? SAHM- fingers crossed it can happen soon...

Updates: None for now- I was allowed to get out of the house this weekend and grab a salad from my favorite cafe- made me the happiest woman ever! Have a great week, Ladies!
  • Hi Ladies.  Day five of bedrest has begun.  I work in higher education as a director of a center for service and engagement.  I plan to go back to work, I carry the insurance!  If I could do anything, I'd probably be a writer.  My updates:  mother in law came and cleaned and friend came and watched my son last night while my husband went to work.  That was nice.  Not sleeping well and contractions are all over the place but seem to be stable overall!
  • I am new today :)

Dr has pulled me from work and I am on modified bed rest due to complete placenta previa and bleeding. I go for another level 2 ultrasound with the perinatologist on aug 8th.

    3. If you could choose any job on the world aside from the one you already do, what would it be? stay at home mom for sure. ::sigh:: hopefully someday

Do you plan on going back to work after your LO arrives? Definitely. I love my job and I've worked really hard to get where I am.   3. If you could choose any job on the world aside from the one you already do, what would it be?   If it wasn't in my current real life I would love to work for the FBI. But I wouldn't trade living where I live, time with my daughter and soon to be baby boy etc... to do what it takes to have that job. So in real life I have my dream job! Updates: To celebrate my upgrade of activity at 32 weeks DH, Daughter and went out to a quick and easy dinner on Friday night. It was so weird to be a restaurant after all my time at home. Looking forward to my next big upgrade in activity at 34 weeks (fingers crossed). Hope everyone had a great weekend!

  • Today's Questions:

    1. What do you do for a living? I was an admin assistant until I went on MBR.  I am starting a new job after my maternity leave.  I am going to be working with deaf/hard of hearing students.  I will be part of an open caption program (like you see when you turn on your closed captioning during the news) and I am also a sign language interpreter. I am really excited to be working back in a classroom setting.

    2. Do you plan on going back to work after your LO arrives? I would love to be a SAHM mom, but my new position is in an education setting so I will have Christmas off, Spring Break and my summers with my LO.

    3. If you could choose any job on the world aside from the one you already do, what would it be? I would love to be a social worker.  Both of my brother's and I are adopted and I would love to be a part of that, our Social Workers were so wonderful.  I have thought about going back to school, but we will see.

Updates: I went to the dr today and originally he had wanted me to get to 36 weeks, but the MBR seems to really be helping my BP and swelling so he now thinks I can make it to 38 weeks no problem, which is fantastic since that means I can make it to my brother's wedding on the 29th and then they will probably induce the following week.  I am so excited!!Big Smile

  • Mrs. Alice, your babies are gorgeous! Congrats! Hoping for a short and uneventful NICU stay for you all!

    1. What do you do for a living? I worked in medical communications for 8 years but my company closed earlier this year after we found out we were having twins, so we decided I wouldn't look for another job and just be a SAHW until they arrive.

    2. Do you plan on going back to work after your LO arrives? Planning to be a SAHM - anticipating this will be the hardest job I have ever had!

    3. If you could choose any job on the world aside from the one you already do, what would it be? I would love to write a book some day.

Updates: Today is my two month "anniversary" of being on bed rest! I honestly can't believe I made it this far. I remember the days when I didn't think we would make it to 24 weeks. Now we are in the single digits to 30 weeks! Bed rest WORKS!
