Re: Need help on picking a double stroller please
My oldest 2 are 22 months apart. I opted to babywear as much as possible. I used a babyhawk for the baby and our regular bumbleride flyer for DD1. It was no big deal to put the baby in the stroller and hold DD1s hand if I needed a babywearing break.
When DD2 got to about age 1 we bought a macleren twin techno from albeebaby that we used for about 1 year. Now they are 3 and 5 and out of the stroller! I did get a pliko switch for this guy so that DD2 can hitch a ride if she needs to (again, albeebaby). I loved my bumbleride, but we sold it when we were told that we couldn't have any more babies...oops!
mine are 3 and 1 and i use the maclaren techno for quick trips. still love my bumbleride indie twin for walks and trails, but i use it less now bc my oldest would rather ride his bike. i used it a lot when i needed him strapped in at age 2 with a newborn. how old will ur oldest be when the baby is born? my friend had a 3yr old when her second was born, bought a citi mini but rarely uses it.......i think it depends a lot on your child, her age, and if she is a stroller kid or not.....
if you're thinking you wont' be doing a lot of strolling and long walks with them, i'd probably go with the maclaren techno....if not, go for the indie twin- it's big, but the ride is amazing.
I think with the age that your DS will be when LO arrives you may want to look into a Sit and Stand sort of stroller. If we weren't having #2 so soon we would've opted for that. So whenever DD felt like sitting she has that platform with the little seat or she can just walk if she wants. But she'll be exactly 2 when #2 arrives and I don't feel she'll be able to handle sitting on a platform yet. I heard they're not as sturdy so it may work for an older child but not for DD.
I'm getting the city mini double. DS will be 1 month shy of 3 when this one is born. He isn't all that interested in a stroller right now either but I know that there will times that we need one and this one has gotten really good reviews.
I have a friend that has a girl DS age and a boy that's 4. All she ever had until recently was a sit and stand. She ended up getting a cm double before their trip to disney instead of renting one, she is in love and said she wished she would have gotten it earlier.
We do a lot of things that DS won't be able to walk the whole time (zoo, mall, amusement parks, WDW etc). I want something that DS might be able to catch a nap in if necessary.
The CM has a huge sun shade and lays pretty much flat. It can also fit through a standard doorway.
