This is my favorite way to wear my newborn!! I like different things once they are older and able to support their head better. But so far, this is the only one I use.
I love it! This is the only way that I will take DD to Wal-Mart or any other store. It never fails that if i take her in her car seat she will go into fits halfway through the shopping trip. I get a lot of strange looks from people but Abbey loves it!
I might be in the minority here, but I haven't been able to get the hang of it. Once I got baby wrapped up in it, he would need a diaper change or need to eat and then I'd have to start the process all over again -- although I think it is possible to nurse in it. And I have a really long baby (22 inches at birth)
I've never figured out how people get them on in public without dragging the fabric all over the ground. I have the Ergo too, so I'm hoping I have more luck with it.
We really like the Moby. If you watch some videos on YouTube, you'll get the hang of how to use it pretty quickly.
DD isn't a huge fan of her carseat when she's not in the car, so this has been a great option for us when we go shopping. Once she gets older, we have a different carrier we'll probably use more, but for her age and size, the Moby has been perfect.
My only beef with it is that it's kinda hot. But, since you're due in October, you won't have to worry so much about that. 100+ degree temps in Houston aren't a great match with this wrap.

It's great for the newborn stage! It's a little hot for use during the summer, so I only wear her out in it at night, but it'd be perfect for an October baby.

We use ours all the time. It is easy to nurse in it and baby stays happy in it for hours. We used it with our first for about the first 7-8 months--then he got too mobile/squirmy to enjoy it.

I love it! I actually made my own by buying 15 feet of fabric and cutting it in half so I got 2 Mobys out of it for $20 vs. 1 Moby for $40. My son will fall asleep or stop fussing within 1 minute of being in the Moby!

I used mine constantly for the first two months; I would just put it on before we left the house. It got harder to do this as it got hotter, but once the air in the car was flowing it didn't make too much of a difference.
I am in the minority as well. I was so excited with the thought of a Moby, I bought it for myself because I no one bought it for me at my showers.
I live in AZ so even in the AC when I take the baby out he is practically drenched. I think as a PP said, October should be better but I wouldn't dream about taking LO out in the heat in it.
I've only mastered one hold, the newborn hug hold and when I take LO out it looks like all his weight is put on his feet and so his little feet and legs are super red and it makes me sad. However, it does knock him out in a jiffy when he is cranky, I just need to figure out how to get him out of it without waking him up.
i've heard great things about it but dd wouldn't have any part of it! so i didn't wear her immediately. she loves the bjorn, and that thing is a god send!!!
I really prefer my mei-tai style carrier (infantino wrap and tie), and it will last longer than the moby. Stretchy wraps are good for little babies, but most people don't love them for heavier ones (like 15 lb +).
Re: lurker here-opinions on moby wrap?
I love my Moby-style wrap. It takes a minute or two to wrap around myself, which isn't fun when baby is crying, but I love it overall!
I had my MIL make one for me using this tutorial. I personally couldn't spend $40 on something I could make for a few dollars worth of fabric.
