flu-like symptoms = impending labor?

I suppose this is a question more for 2nd time mamas - but does anyone know if there's any truth to the whole "flu-like symptoms = impending labor?" I've read about it, and actually I'm having more cold-like symptoms than flu-like, but what can I say...I'm very eager!

For me, yes! With DD I thought I had a severe stomach bug, went to the hospital because the Dr. wanted to monitor the baby, and I found out I was in active labor. At that point I thought the contractions where severe cramps, and my daughter was born 17.5 hours later.

When you say "flu-like" are you talking about the head cold, aches, sore throat? Or a stomach flu with vomiting and diarrhea?

I only ask because I woke up yesterday feeling like I was hit by a truck: headache, extreme congestion, sore throat, runny nose, achy all over. When I searched for "flu-like symptoms" a lot of people end up talking about stomach bug symptoms. I just want to make sure I know what we're referring to.

I've read that it is more of the stomach flue with nausea and diarrhea. But I've been having diarrhea on and off for over a week now. I'm no longer excited about it being impending labor.

I've never heard that so not sure. My only indication was my blood pressure shot up at my 40 week check up and that was highly unusual for me to have high blood pressure.
