Book recs for 2 year olds

I regularly go to the library for new material, and I was wondering what other kids are liking these days since I could use some new ideas!

Old favorites in our house that DS is now protesting include:

1.  How Do Dinosaurs....series

2.  The "Oh David" books

3.  Busy Busy Town and others by Scarry

4.  He's not a huge fan of Eric Carle, but I am so he's stuck with it.

5.  Curious George

Thanks for any suggestions!

  • Loading the player...
  • My DS likes the Llama LLama and If you give... books as well.  And lately he's been into Clifford too.

  • Dr. Suess!!

Warner loves Green Eggs & Ham, Hop on Pop, Wacky Wednesday, Ten Apples Up on Top, There's a Wocket in my Pocket, etc.

The rhyming is fun and I like that they are longer books...I think it's good to try to challenge their attention spans at this age ;-)

  • Little Bear

     Harold and the Purple Crayon

    Dr. Seuss

    Babar

  • The Foggy Foggy Forest (this was a library find that we then had to buy)

All the Llama Llama series of books

Pinkalicious (not the biggest fan of the rest in that series though)

Duck & Goose (there are also many different books in this series)

Little Quack (there are also many different books in this series)

    Amelia Bedelia

    Madeline

    Little Bear

    Curious George series

  • In addition to the ones already mentioned, DD loves the Kitten books, the Pigeon books, the counting books with the puffy animals (we have 5 Little Ladybugs and 5 Twinkling Stars), Ten Hippos, Corduroy, The Bear Snores On series, and some of the I spy like books.  I've also introduced chapter books with some success to DD.  We have an Usborne version of Heidi for young readers.  DD likes the story, but if we read the whole story it's a little long or if we read chapters, we have to talk a bit about what happened in the last chapter before picking up again.  It's nice though to read something longer.  We have a Velveteen Rabbit one as well that we've enjoyed.  I also like Is Your Mama a Llama and because of sibling jealousy The Kissing Hand.  The former is just really fun to read and the latter is a beautiful story.
  • DD's favorites were The Pout-Pout Fish and The Pout-Pout Fish in the Big-Big Dark.   I think those were my favorite books to read to her...actually, I think they still are :)
