Babies: 3 - 6 Months

for chunky thighs - Bumbo or Bebepod?

looking to buy one of these for my 3 month old who is currently wearing size 6 months clothes and about 17 lbs. i thought i read once that one of them has a bigger leg opening. does anyone have experience w. either one for their LO?

Re: for chunky thighs - Bumbo or Bebepod?

  • Neither.

DS was about the same size at 3 months and he didn't fit into the Bumbo at daycare.  Someone on the Baby Gear board recommended this and it's awesome.

  • You probably won't get much use out of the bumbo! We were about 17 lbs at 3 months too, and used the Bumbo for about three weeks. Booo.

I wish I would have waited and just opted for a booster seat. I'm having to buy one now (additionally) to start feedings.

  • I only have the Bumbo and my LO had pretty chunky thighs and he fits pretty well in the bumbo, but looking at the photo of a bebepod online, looks like the bumbo might be a bigger leg opening. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

  • I have a Bumbo and a large baby as well. She often gets suctioned to the Bumbo. :). I have heard the bebepod has bigger openings, but I have never seen one in person to compare.

  • I agree with PPs about the Bumpo for chuncky thighs. DD is 15lbs and is close to outgrowing her Bumpo. We stopped using it last week because she tries to launch herself out of the chair (by trying to stand) so it's become a bit dangerous. So if you haven't already been using it I would say it will be a waste over 3 months old. FWIW- we did love using it

  • thanks ladies. i had a feeling it was the bumbo that was too small for chunky thighs. i'm going to test drive my friend's bebepd. i have that fisher price booster seat so i'll give that a try too but i don't think it would support him very well when he teeters to the sides.
  • In case you check back - DD has chunky thighs. We got the bebePod. She sits in it for a little while but it doesn't give her much support when she goes to the side. We rarely use it because when we do, she spends most of her time leaned to the side.

We have this one too.  Our two year old (although he's not very chunky) likes to sit in it too!
