Hi ladies! I'm recently preggo with number two and I'm really determined to make this one a VBAC. I'm looking for positive stories here in MN. I had my first dd at St. Francis in Shakopee, but we're now living in Victoria, so Waconia would be closer... i just love my ob at st. francis. Still undecided on where to go.
Re: Where did you VBAC??
I'll be going to Hudson Hospital.
If your heart is set on a VBAC, it might be worth looking into. Dr Hartung is very well known among the birthing community as being one of the best for VBAC births. His success rate is extraordinarily high, and his primary c-section rate is extremely low as well.
He's not an OB that will tell you he'll let you try to VBAC, he actually advocates that women who are eligible try for them.
If you find the drive is not feasible at all, make sure you ask about success rates and how many attempts they do each year. Many, many OBs and MWs will tell you they'll let you attempt a VBAC...until you're actually in labor and they start pushing and forcing interventions that end up leading to a repeat c/s. Or, in some cases (like a couple of my friends), they'll find a reason at 38 weeks to not even let you try, whether those reasons would inhibit VBAC or not.
I know the Midwife group at Methodist is very supportive of VBACs.
I'm seeing Kira Weier at Park Nicollet - Meadowbrook, and will be delivering at Methodist in St. Louis Park.
She's had a VBAC herself, so that's kind of why I picked her. The group's VBAC rate is really high.
Ditto on Dr. Hartung, too. I don't see him, but I took a VBAC class and they mentioned him by name. My doula said women drive from all over to see him.
