I know I didn't eat any peanut products (to the best of my knowledge) when I was pregnant and I'm pretty certain I got advise from my doctor on the matter. However, I'm not sure if my doctor actually recommended against it. I might have just decided on my own to avoid peanuts. I think I also talked to an allergist sometime after having DS about it, but can't remember what he said either. I keep meaning to ask my doctor, but was curious to see what others are doing. I remember being especially paranoid because DH's brother has a severe peanut allergy. I know the allergist thought it was highly unlikely that DS would also be allergic because it is his sister with the allergy and not one of us, so I'm thinking I have nothing to worry about. It's one of those things that I'm probably overly paranoid about.

Re: Are you eating peanut butter while pregnant?
I think this LO is made up of at least 50% peanut butter.
Seriously, I have a PB&J sandwich every day for lunch. I chowed down on peanuts early 1st tri. I'm a vegetarian, so I consider it to be a great way to get her some protein.
From what I can remember reading, unless YOU have a peanut allergy, it shouldn't be a problem for your LO, or increase any risks of them developing one. But if you're really concerned, I'd ask your OB or allergist again.

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
My doctor didn't tell me to stay away from it so I've been eating it. I don't think that there is enough "evidence" supporting eating PB during preganancy and allergies to tell women to stay away from it(unless you have the allergy, in which case you should stay away
)

I am avoiding eating peanut butter. My ds has peanut allergies so I am trying something different with this pregnancy. DH tells me I can't have chocolate or eggs either (ds is allergic to that too)....eggs are no big deal but yeah right, I'm NOT giving up chocolate! lol
I also will not eat any peanut butter while breastfeeding. A lot of doctors will tell you that it won't affect your baby but my son showed a reaction to my breastmilk (profuse vomiting, which is his main reaction to peanuts) after I had eaten Reeses peanut butter cups. So, yes the peanut protein passes through your milk and if your child is allergic, they can/will have a reaction.
I eat a TON of peanut butter. I typically have a half peanut butter sandwich as a snack every day and also have PB on crackers. PB is listed as one of the snack ideas that the OB gave me......
SAME!! And OMG I just saw Junebug wrote Fluffernutter and can think of nothing else!

My Blog: Losing Sylvia
I have food allergies, so I tried very hard with my first pregnancy to avoid peanuts and peanut butter. (I am not allergic to peanuts, but have had anaplylactic reactions to other types of foods). Then, I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, and, I think, without peanut butter, I might have died. It filled me up when I couldnt eat anything else.
So, with this LO, I have not avoided peanuts at all. My first son is not allergic to peanuts, so I am hoping the second one will not be either. I just couldn't avoid the peanuts, they are so full of fat and protein and help to fill me up when I can't have carbs. If it wasn't for peanuts and cheese, I don't think I could survive pregnancy, seeing as how I can't eat ice cream like I want to.....
