Medela Customer Service Rave

I noticed the other day that my pump had some black sooty looking stuff on the outside and when I opened the battery area it was all over.  I called Medela this morning and got right through, when I explained the issue they immediately took my information and are sending me a brand new pump, overnight!  They don't even want the old one back or any photos of the issue!  I was so impressed with how quickly my call was taken, how nice they were and how quickly I'll be getting a replacement.  I think the whole process took me less than 10 minutes.

I'm kind of thinking it's just a battery issue and would love to give the old pump to someone who could use it....they'd just need to buy a new battery I guess...any idea if that would be ok??

  • The black sooty stuff could also be mold... I know some people have had issues with that. I'd probably get rid of the old pump just in case.

  • Yeah, someone on the Breastfeeding board posted a photo of their pump (a freestyle) with black stuff on it a while ago, and the responses said it was mold. Pretty gross, and apparently not terribly uncommon. Maybe that's why they were so quick to send you a new pump! I haven't had any problems with mine though.

  • Their customer service is fabulous.  My pump was making a funny noise and the tech spent a half hour on the phone with me trying to fix it and when nothing changed, she had a new one overnighted (I had to send the old one back).
