Ok... this week the kids (boys ages 8 and 5) have nothing planned and I want to make them a bored jar where they can pick something and go do it. If not, they will sit in front of the TV all day long. So far I have:
go to the beach, go to a park, build a lego city, make a book, bake, call a friend for a playdate,
Any other easy, free suggestions I could put in there.
Re: Ideas for a bored jar
Puzzle? Board game? Ride bikes?
I just blogged about what I made for the boys! With our list of activities found here:

Craft Blog: MommyBrained...
wash their bikes
make homemade bubbles and giant string bubble wands
scavenger hunt
letterbox - or create a letterbox to hide
make mudpies
get an old sheet, hang it outside and let them paint it. Or let them paint themselves (you can make pudding paint) and have them body paint the sheet.
I have seen in the land of pinterest where they cut out a giant star from a piece of cardboard, used it as a stencil, and then sprinkled flour over it, decorating the yard with stars. You could do the same thing and make a giant maze, or checkerboard.
Make masking tape roads through the house to drive the cars.
Make towns out of cereal boxes, etc, for towns around the roads.
Get some large refrigerator boxes and let them turn them into rockets, houses, trains, or cars. Another pinterest idea I have saved is that they turn the boxes into cars, add pillows, and clip on snack trays, then watch a movie - so it is their own drive in.
