I am curious, how would some of you Mom's feel if this happened to you?
I cannot believe that the Mother's did not realize that it wasn't their own baby, nor can I understand that it was a relative that pointed it out! I do however feel sorry for the Mother's to lose that precious bonding times with their newborns but I can also understand that it was just human error too. Tough on all involved I am sure!
Re: Mix up
Well at least it was caught before they left the hospital! I'm sure it will all be fine and there won't be any lasting problems for anyone. But with post partum hormones and all, I'd be freaking out and livid.
Do they take the babies away from you for a while there? Ben was never out of our sight. And Cooper only was because we went home at night and left him in the NICU. But he had a private room. He couldn't get mixed up.
And as you said Jill, lucky it was all sorted before they went home!
This happened to my friend's mom in the 80's. She was so sleep deprived she almost started nursing the other baby but then said, wait a minute, where did this birthmark come from?!
That is crazy that it went that long, though! 8 hours, breastfeeding, and playing?! The babies must've looked very similar.
