Pregnant after a Loss

Update on our preemie

So Castle has been doing pretty well. He is in a normal crib (no more incubator) and was doing excellent with BFing and taking all other feeds by bottle which is great. There was an issue over the weekend though with blood in his stools and a bad diaper rash so they stopped feeding him for a night and put him on an IV to give his tummy/bum a rest (overly cautious as he is a preemie). Now they have him on soy formula because they think he may have a dairy allergy. So, they'll know how he tolerates the soy formula over the next day or two. If thats what it is then I will just need to stop consuming dairy products while I BF. He could have also just had a random stomach issue or maybe it was something else I may have eaten that didn't agree with him. So they're trying to figure all that out now....

Crossing my fingers they figure out what it is fast so we can bring him home. He will be 2 weeks old tomorrow I can't believe how fast it's gone all ready.

Re: Update on our preemie

  • Sorry to hear that the little guy has gone through all that.  Hopefully this soy thing works and you are on the right track.

He is so just so stinking cute!  Congrats again!

  • It sounds like, all things considered, your boy is doing fantastic, and he's wicked cute!  I've had one friend whose full-term baby had dairy allergies, and had a similar reaction to breast milk as a result.  Many T&Ps heading your way that all continues to go smoothly.
  • What a cutie! I hope you can bring him home soon.
