this was supposed to be our "weaning weekend" and we'd been counting down the days to DD during the week. she only nursed before nap and before bed, and did not nurse to sleep at bedtime so i knew at least that one should drop fairly easily. we were going to try this when she turned two, but she was sick for quite a few months and then we were travelling etc... ANYWAY how she's 2.5 and boy was she ready. it might have helped that we also bribed her with getting a fish for being such a big girl now. ![]()
anyway on friday at naptime, i asked her if she wanted to just lay down and snuggle instead of nursing and she said ok! holy crap... and she cuddled and went right to sleep! at bedtime friday it was equally as easy, so saturday morning we went and got a fish (which she LOVES). i was gearing up for at least naptime to be difficult, but she was so ready and i love that she was able to talk to me about it, understand it, and feel proud of her accomplishment.
she's such a grown kid! she's been potty trained and in a big bed for almost a year, so this was our last tie to babyhood. i'm so proud of her! it is so incredibly bittersweet. i will miss those times so much, but i'm also happy to move on...
thanks for listening, just wanted to share! i want to scream it from FB but i dont have that kind of relationship with everyone on there ![]()
Re: easiest weaning ever...(2.5 yrs old)... for her anyway!
THANK YOU!!! i was going to email you - thanks for sharing your story with me too, it helped me feel like we could do it and it would be fine. i didnt realize just how fine it would be with her, LOL, but i'm relieved. and a bit sad... we never took any pictures...
Glad to hear it was a painless experience. Ari self weaned a few months ago. He just gradually dropped sessions & then when I went on medical leave from work he started skipping days. We never took any pics either - I have no idea why, but I wish I had some.
