Need Ideas - Bridal Shower NBR

I am helping plan a bridal shower for a friend and I am in charge of games and favors. I have been so unmotivated to plan this stuff but I need to get 'er done because the shower is next weekend.

So far I was thinking of doing gift bingo, a word scramble, a team game where you have to make a veil for the bride with provided supplies, and maybe a modified version of the newlywed game.  I'm thinking that's more than enough for games, but I'm interested in any ideas you ladies may have.  (The bride is terrible with pop culture, actors/singers names, etc so I didn't include any games that involve guessing about stuff like that.)

I also desperately need ideas for a party favor. I think there will be about 25 ladies, so something inexpensive would be best.

Any thoughts?? TIA!

Re: Need Ideas - Bridal Shower NBR

  • I'm planning a baby shower right now! I've got a test batch of mint lemonade in the fridge... that's how far I've got.

As for favours, I always vote edible. I'd rather have a single fancy chocolate than one more damn picture frame. So I'd suggest: fancy chocolate, starbucks gift cards for $3 and a note about "taking you out for coffee",  a fancy cookie... something like that.

I think you've got plenty of games.

  • I'm MOH in my friend's wedding in Oct and am planning the shower for September right now.  I am doing cakeballs for the favors and putting them in nice boxes from AC Moore or Michaels and will tie it with a ribbon.  Like Token said, I like edible favors!

  • I did flowerpots for favors. I stamped a flower on the pot, stuck a ribbon around the top of it and put some jellybeans inside. They were really cute. The pots were only like 30 cents each at Michaels.

I made cakeballs for my hostess gifts for my baby shower. I bought these large boxes at Hobby Lobby, but you can get much smaller ones. At HB they had the boxes, box papers, paper cups and box bands. I used envelope labels for the stickers and just printed at home.

  • I agree with edibles..they are enjoyed and that's that. I always feel bad pitching a favor that is essentially clutter, because I know someone spent time and money on them.  I try to leave them at the party when it isn't obvious. :)

Nice!!  Those turned out great!!  I hadn't thought about using box bands, that would probably make life a little easier than cutting and tying a bunch of little ribbons (*shudders* remembering my wedding prep days).  And printing your own labels is definitely the way to go!  :)

  • I *just* had my sister's bridal shower. For games, instead of bingo during gifts, we set a timer at random intervals and whomever's gift the bride was opening when the timer went off, got a prize. We also did a word scramble with wedding-related words, and the bubble gum game - ask questions of the groom and see how many the bride can get right. For every wrong answer she needs to pop a piece of bubbleicious in her mouth - it can get ridiculous because that gum is huge.
