XP: Babywearing help, please

I also posted this on AP....

I have two pouch slings and an Ergo.  I don't feel like I am getting a good posistion in any of them.  LO is still too little for the Ergo.  I have one of those seven slings that seems to work the best, i.e. it feels right, but LO's head keeps going on his chest, no matter what I can't get him to get his chin off his chest.

The other is a peanut shell a friend gave me.  I think it is too big, and it just doesn't feel comfortable, and LO tries to lay all streched out in it.

Any tips or other recomendations welcome, I am willing to buy something else.  Also I am in Louisiana and it is VERY hot here so some thing that is cool is a plus.

Thanks!

His three plus my one; we are all excited to welcome a little one!

  • The problem with pouch slings is that they are not adjustible. I don't like them.

A Mei Tai (MT) would be a great idea, as would a ring sling (RS). I LOVE my RS. I bought it from Sleeping Baby Productions and she did an amazing job. It is the European Linen, so it is pretty cool. I live in OK, so I know hot/humid also! Look into Mesh RS also.

Doing a RS or MT, you would be able to do tummy to tummy easily, as well as other carries. The RS is very versatile - you can do T2T, Kangaroo (they face front), Cradle Carry, Hip Carry and even Back Carry.

Check out the website The Babywearer dot com - you have to register, but it is INVALUABLE for BW advice. It is overwhelming, so be prepared to be confused until you do some reading. Okay, A LOT of reading. :)

  • We love our moby here, but it's a bit heavier of a material and can get pretty hot.
i have heard the the sleepy wrap is a bit lighter but basically the same things.

  • I'm in love with my mei tai. Babysteals has 'em for $31. https://www.babysteals.com/archive_products.php?id=999

The Seven Sling never feels that great. I use it a bit, but not for long periods. My ergo still doesn't feel secure - I do think I might use it later, but not now. I have a wrap, but it's more complicated and hot than the mei tai is for me.

  • we bought a Babyhawk Mei Tai.  I really like it, and it is lighter weight then the ergo.  the ergo with an insert will probably be too hot for you.

We really like our Baby Bjorn too. And I forget the specific name, but the one we have is supposed to help keep baby cool.

  • I love my ergo, but it's too hot with the newborn insert right now. So I purchased a MRI tai baby, which I also love!! It's so much lighter, easier to get on than my moby, and had snap in the front so lo legs can sit properly and that means it also gives me the option to wear her forward facing, which she'll love. I'm so glad I purchased my MT baby, it'd my go to carrier. Dh can have his ergo!
    My overly happy baby girl!
