I have two pouch slings and an Ergo. I don't feel like I am getting a good posistion in any of them. LO is still too little for the Ergo. I have one of those seven slings that seems to work the best, i.e. it feels right, but LO's head keeps going on his chest, no matter what I can't get him to get his chin off his chest.
The other is a peanut shell a friend gave me. I think it is too big, and it just doesn't feel comfortable, and LO tries to lay all streched out in it.
Any tips or other recomendations welcome, I am willing to buy something else. Also I am in Louisiana and it is VERY hot here so some thing that is cool is a plus.
Thanks!
added Pic, not the best but its all I could get bymyself. His chin is on his chest.

Re: need babywearing help ETA Pip
What carry are you trying with the pouch? Are you sure it's the right size?
The drawback of pouches is that they're not adjustable. You just have to buy a smaller size. Are you willing to try a ring sling?
The cradle carry. i thought the peanut shell was too big, but reading their website is does hit above my hip, but it feels too big.
With the seven sling it seems to hit (where his bum is) a little below my rib cage. And his head is "kissable"
I second PP's suggestion of a ring sling. Pouches are really dependent on being sized perfectly and are difficult at best with a younger baby.
If you're willing to deal with a steeper learning curve for a big pay-off you could try a lightweight woven wrap. A Gypsy Mama Balibaby Breeze gauze wrap or thin woven like a Vatanai or Ellaroo are harder to figure out at the beginning but would last you years and offer a wide variety of carries. I recommend checking out the FSOT board on thebabywearer.com where you can buy used carriers.
Also, a cradle carry can be a bit tricky. Does your LO like being carried tummy-to-tummy? Maybe that would work out better.
If you really want to do a cradle hold, try this. Put your LOs butt in first. Make sure his position is more like a check mark than a "c." Also. try not to put him in horizontal to the rails, but more diagonal--with his bottom more toward the inner rail and his head more toward the outer rail. Maybe you can post some pics in order to get more help.
Where would you or PP suggest purchasing one?
I will try anything. He loves being close, but also is fine in his crib or really anywhere, very happy baby. I just like having him close, and its easier than carrying that dam* infant carrier.
I love sleepingbaby.net slings, but you have to jump through a few hoops to buy from her right now. Her slings are relatively inexpensve and very well made, and are in demand more than she can keep up with during the summer. You could also get a used one on the FSOT board I mentioned earlier.
Zolowear slings are also great, but their shoulder style is more difficult to adjust. Some other quality brands are Kalea Baby, Comfy Joey, Sakura Bloom, and Sweet Pea.
Yeah, that's not safe. The sling is too big and as you noted his chin's to his chest. I usually recommend avoiding the cradle carry altogether as it's really hard to get right and can be so unsafe when done wrong.
Thanks! I am glad I checked, I'll check out other carries, and I am thinking I will get a ring sling, I found some info on a comfy joey.. thinking i may go with that first.
