What time do you put your LO to bed??

My LO seemed to be on a perfect schedule, by four weeks old she was getting a bath by 8:30, feed, read a book, put her down in her swing awake, and by 9:00 she was out like a light until 4:00 when she woke up to eat. Now she has reverted back to waking up every few hours in the night to feed...ugh Mommy thought she was in the clear!! I know that this is normal and that if I just stick with our routine that she will eventually get back on track, but I'm just curious, what time do you put your LO down to sleep??

  • Depending on what time she gets her first early morning bottle, she usually gets her bedtime bottle between 8:30 and 9:30 and falls asleep when finished.

Your LO may be going through the 6 week growth spurt now.  My DD did a similar thing but was only going about 6 hours between bottles before she started waking up every 3 to 4 hours again.  She is just now starting to revert back (hopefully!).

  • Lately, 11pm. But he sleeps in bed with me now, and I have to nurse him to sleep.
But he sleeps from 11pm to 6am, wakes to eat and then sleeps till 10am this way, so I am not complaining!

  • DD gets her bath at 930p and goes to sleep by 1030-11p. She will usually sleep until 630-7, depending on growth spurts. Then she goes back to sleep until 10-11a. I can't complain much, at least I get some sleep.
  • I usually aim for sometime between 9 and 10 pm. Last night, he fell asleep around 8 (in the car) and then he was out until 11:30 pm, and down (for him) for the night.

I mostly follow his lead. I'd be happy if he moved a bit earlier, but I really can't fight him on it.

  • Lately, 9 or 9:30 but that is new.  She used to fight us until 11-12.

He has been going to bed between 7:30 and 8:30 lately. Then awake somewhere around 10-11 to eat, then again between 2 and 3. He's up for the day around 6ish. Then he takes a morning nap around 9 or so.

  • Whenever she falls asleep and I am ready for bed, usually around 11 or midnight.  She usually falls asleep around 8 or 9 and sleeps in the boppy or her little travel bassinet for a couple hours while I do laundry, dishes, watch TV or hang with DH.  I usually wait for her to wake up around 11 for one last feeding before I put her in the co-sleeper and go to bed myself.  If I was smart, I'd go to bed when she falls asleep earlier, but I rarely do.

  • Violet is almost always asleep in bed at 7:30.  She gets over-exhausted and over-stimulated and fights sleep if she's up too much later than 8.

About 9:00- he sleeps till 4 then goes back to sleep for 3 hours- then he's up for the day with the exception of his few naps.

This is our daughter. I would like to slowly push it back so she goes to sleep earlier, but I am hesitant to do it because I don't want her to wake up earlier either!

  • Her routine starts around 730, and she's asleep somewhere between 830-930, then wakes up a half hour later, after that shes down for three hours, then every two. Cant wait for some long stretches!

  • Bath around 9, nurse as long as he wants (usually an hour), change, nurse again if desired, then bed. This process can take up to 5 hours for us. BUT, once he goes down, he sleeps for 4-5 hours, so I'm reluctant to change it. And he seems to be happy.

It sounds like your LO might be going through a growth spurt, as PPs said. Just stick it out. Once you find a routine, they tend to change it up on you anyways.

    Good luck!

  • DH and I are more of nightowls I guess, so at midnight I try getting Xander in bed and on a good night he is sleeping by 1 and doesn't wake up until 6-7.. other nights he stays up til 3 or 4 with me, and then sleeps til 10 and then again til 12 or 1 when I wake him up. I would like to push it back just a little, but it works out well for us as DH is a manager at a restaurant and sometimes doesn't get home til midnightish so this is sometimes the only way he gets to spend any time with the baby. I would be worried about it, but he sleeps really great so I'm not. I'm not sleep deprived and neither is DH so it's happy sleeping in our house. Moving back to  10 or 11 wouldn't upset me so I could have more time to get things done during the day though.
  • Usually she goes to bed in her crib around 11pm.  Wakes up around 2 or 3 to eat, goes back to bed until 7 or 8.
