This is a repost from the BNB..
Lillian is our top girl name right now. It was my great grandmas name and we both love it. I like Kathleen as a middle name (moms name) and DH likes Elizabeth as a mn (my mn and my grandmas name).
So, wdyt of Lillian Kathleen? And Lily Kate as a nn? Or do you prefer Lillian Elizabeth? Last name is one syllable and begins with a B (no L's).
ETA: Lillian and Elizabeth have the same meanings in Hebrew and English (at least on the sight I was looking at). Does that make a difference?
Also, BIL & SILs cats name is Lily. Should that matter to us? They have 5 animals and we are never at their house to interact with the cat. In fact, it took us about 3 weeks to realize they had a cat Lily after we put Lillian at the top of our list.
Other contenders are Natalie Jane and Sophia Elizabeth. I was trying to stay away from popular names but they are the only ones we can agree on!
Thanks Ladies!

I like them. Lillian Elizabeth flows so nicely. Lily is a wonderful nickname. They're all nice. They are somewhat popular, but if that's what you can agree on, well, nothing is wrong with going with a tried and true popular name.
As far as the cat sharing your child's name -- kids live a lot longer than pets do! Your daughter will be around when the cat is long gone and forgotten. I don't think it makes a whit of difference to anyone else -- I named my pets "people" names, too, so every once in awhile I meet someone who has the same name as my dog or cat. It may be a bit uncomfortable for the person for a minute, but, people rate higher than animals do.

Haha, I feel Lillian and Elizabeth are too similar and have the same meaning. Seems redundant to me, but DH and most people I ask like Elizabeth better.
I do love Natalie Jane too - and I have said if we have another girl, that would be her name. Jane is MILs mn and I just can't bring myself to honor her before my mom. My mom raised me on her own and scarificed so much for me. I am an only child and we are very close. DH and his mom aren't very close and in fact only started to get along in the past 5 or so years.
We have considered Natalie Elizabeth and Natalie Kathleen too - but are leaning more towards Lillian right now. Who knows what we'll decide!

I like all of your options! But, since it sounds like you would really love to honor your mother, I choose Lillian Kathleen. Very pretty!

Don't worry about the cat, it's a different name and it's just a cat.
I think Lillian Elizabeth sounds better and I think since you're using names all from your side of the family, DH should get his say on the MN.
Yeah, I really would
I love to hear others opinions, but I do have my favorite
I would use Elizabeth before Kathleen though since it honors my moms mom, but would not (at this point) use Jane first to honor MIL before my mom.
My original favorite (for MANY years) was Elizabeth Kathleen (Ellie or Ellie Kate) but DH will not agree. I'd also like to use Kathleen since it is Irish and so are DH and I - and I am convinced this little girl is gonna be a redhead like me
Great choice!
I really do love the name Jane too.
That's a good point - surprised he hasn't said that yet!
DH isn't all about using family names as middle names, but I am. He could care less (so he says) about honoring anyone from either side. However, our boy name he picked fn and mn and the mn honors his side of the family (he picked a family name because he knew that was important to me). But I love it so there was no discussion there. We still plan to use that name if we ever have a boy.

Lillian is great. Classic, simple, has meaning to you and a built in nn.
Of the two mn options you gave, I'd go with Kathleen. Lillian Elizabeth is such a mouthful (lots of L sounds), whereas Lillian Kathleen is two distinct names that won't blend together when you say it.
Natalie Jane is good too...does it have significance to you? Sophia Elizabeth would be fine except Sophia is ridiculously popular right now.

Natalie we just like and Jane is MILs mn. It's my top "if we have a 2nd daughter name'
DH really likes Sophia, but we have a very common last name too. Dh has a Sofia on his side (passed away many years ago - never knew).
What's funny is that in the course of my DH and I talking this morning (see my decisions thread), we came up with "if we have a 2nd son" names as well.

I'm going to go against the crowd because Lillian Kathleen is my favorite. Lillian is a name we were considering for a girl as well. It's a beautiful name.
I agree with the PP though, I wouldn't worry about the cat.
Funny story though, DH and I were reading through boy names online. I read aloud "Max, Maximillian- hmm I kinda like that name." Our cat (whose name is Max) jumped off his cat tree meowed and ran over to us. DH burst out laughing and said, "you're in idiot, we can't name the baby the cat's name."
I had totally forgotten in that moment.
So yeah, LO will NOT be named Max.
