Do I need to put a call in?

I have had headaches almost daily for at least the past few days. I had a headache yesterday evening and went to bed with it, woke up today with it and its gotten worse this evening.  I even feel a little nauseated.  I just checked my bp and it is about what it has been during my entire pregnancy (I am on BP meds since it is slightly elevated).

The past few days when it has come on, it has been in the evening before bed but nothing too bad.  I have taken tylenol that has helped...except tonight.

Do I need to call the doc?  FYI- I have an appointment on Monday at 2 with my OB.

  • drink some gatorade.  i was feeling "off" the other day and when I stood up, was seeing floaters.  A friend of mine suggested gatorade and within an hour I was back to my usual self.

I would start by drinking a liter or so of water. That seems to be the fastest cure for a headache, for me. I drink 2-3 liters/day, but I'm thirstier than ever in this extreme heat.

Then I'd say call the doctor. Hope you feel better!

  • I know headaches can be a sign of pre-eclampsia so you might want to call your doc just to see what they suggest.

  • Come to think of it...I dont think I have had too much water today...I will try that first.  Its after midnight here, so maybe I'll drink a lot of water then take some tylenol and head to bed...see how I am feeling tomorrow.

My OB doesnt think my high BP has anything to do with pre-e since it started too early on (16 weeks), but I know things can change.  If anything, perhaps I can get in to see my OB earlier on Monday...

Yes Gatorade!! My OB told me to drink a lot of it after I got out of the hospital for dehydration and an infection. I couldn't seem to rehydrate myself with just water. I have felt way better since I started drinking it. Im actually drinking one right now Smile

  • Water, water, water, then more water. Seriously, it is amazing all the pregnancy complaints that can be solved just by drinking. Feel better soon!
  • In addition to water, how much sleep are you getting? I'm needing more sleep these days, and I get headaches related to that when I don't get enough. Since you sai this happens late at night, that could also be a factor.

  • I get about 8 hours of sleep a night during the week and 9-10 on weekends these days.  I usually dont need that much sleep, but since being pregnant, I do.

I have had nothing but water today.  I am drinking some gatorade right now...I really dont like the stuff : P and so far I dont have a headache today...but I am tired!
