napr vent re: neighbors

Really, is it ok to leave your dog outside barking? Last night it was outside from 8- past 10. We ended up shutting all the windows because it was keeping lo up. Tonight it is out again. Constant barking. Ugh. We have two dogs and would never leave them out barking for any length of time. If they bark the come in. Ok, vent over.

    Our neighbors used to leave their collie puppy outside all day while they were at work.  It would sometimes bark for 20 minutes non-stop.  I felt really sorry for it, especially in the New Orleans heat, but it drove me nuts.

    Neighborhoods would be great if it weren't for neighbors. Do you have a noise ordinance in your township? Here, after enough complaints, the owners can get in considerable trouble. Also, noises after 9pm are taken very seriously. I just called the cops today because my neighbors were setting off illegal fireworks so close to DS's window that it lot his room up bright enough to clearly read the titles on the books on his bookshelf. Of course, it woke him up and scared the snot out of him. I never understood making a dog bark outside. He obviously wants or needs something like....ummmm... ATTENTION from his owners who supposedly want and love him.

    We've called the non-emergency police line before when dogs have been barking all night.  We had 2 neighbors get cited for their dog barking all night.  They use to leave him out every night, and haven't left him out since.  What I don't know, is how their dog woke me up 2 streets over and they were able to sleep through the barking???

    My dog is a HUGE barker, that's why she is never outside for more than 5 minutes.
