Baby Carrier Backpack

I know on FB someone posted about wraps. We have a Moby and I love it. However, in about a month FI, DS, my dad and I are going hiking and I just wouldn't feel comfortable carrying DS in that. So I've been researching backpacks and am having a hard time finding one because I am only 5'2. Has anyone used one or read reviews on one for smaller frames?

I have a Beco Gemini. Love it. But do you mean back pack style as to something with a metal frame?

I guess it doesn't matter much either way. I always see hikers carry their babies with the metal frame backpacks, so that's what I was thinking of. I just want to feel that DS will be secure and safe.

We had a metal frame one from REI (I think it was called a piggyback) and it was okay. I'm not sure you can use them for babies as young as ours. We used ours with DS when he was about 6 months. DS is a shrimp and he still felt early heavy in that. We got an ergo for Christmas and love it so much we got a second one recently. We used both of them tons and tons on a recent 3 week camping trip.

We bought the Deuter Kid Comfort II after a bunch of research to use for hikes. It's a pretty hardcore metal-framed backpack carrier, but we do some pretty serious hikes. She is not quite ready for it - she has to be sitting up well to use it - but I can't wait! Kelty has good reviews, too. We chose the Deuter because a few reviewers said it was less bulky and more comfortable than the Kelty.
