My nieces love American Girl, there is a new store opening in Lynwood soon.
We got my 4 yr old niece a felt board and some do-a-dots for her recent birthday. Another idea was my mom got the 4 yr old a gift card for the garden center to get a pot/flowers/seeds.
Eric Ode CDs / book were a big hit, but since yours is local they might already have that. (mine were out of town so they never heard him before)
They had this neat game/activity box with wooden cards with scenes and wooden pieces (like a tree/animals/moon etc) that you use the pieces to replicate cards(teaches depth perception, matching and stuff), but I don't remember the brand.
A recorder (the musical instrument) or other smaller musical instrument. Dress up clothes or accessories for what ever doll(s) she currently has. Anything princess, fairy, or pony related. Junie B. Jones books.
Mama to Z - 5.5 years, G - 3.5 years, & M - 1.5 years.
My good friend's little girl just sold her riding jeep at a yard sale and then begged her parents to take her to justice to buy clothes. A cute outfit from justice would be a hit
My niece is five; for her birthday this year we got her some fun girly pajamas and treasury of Disney princess books to read before bed. She was really excited.
Do you have any idea what she's into? Hannah is 5 in a few weeks (GASP!!) and she LOVES dinosaurs, dramatic play (ie dress up), and sometimes into dolls. (I wouldn't get her an American Girl doll cause she'd have the doll's clothes off and swimming in the sink in 5 minutes - ruining the doll. Maybe if they weren't $100... Just my 2 cents and knowing my child!! We also love activity books (ie kindegarten prep books). Poster paper and finger paints? Craft kits?
Outdoor stuff is always fun. Hannah loves sidewalk chalk, and there are lots of out door games that are fun. And you can never go wrong with books!

I don't know her well at all. They're our next door neighbors, and the kids run around on bikes together when we're all outside, but we don't really hang out together or anything... I'm thinking some sort of craft project "kit" like making bracelets or something might be good... I know DH's sister's kids always like projects... so I'll give that a try.
Something crafty should be a big hit. In our house anything dress-up, princess, and crafty would be a hit.
Neither my daughter or any of her friends would know what store their clothes we purchased from.
Love: 8/2000 | Marriage: 7/2005 | Baby makes three: 3/28/2007 | And one more makes...SIX?
Steal my kids picture or pretend they are yours, I will find where you live and ship all of their dirty diapers to your doorstep. Promise.
I just signed Audrey up for a subscription of Highlights Hidden Pictures magazines. (they were my favorite as a kid) she LOVES them and is so proud of herself when she finds the hidden objects.
Aud is just turning 4, but she loves teacups and having tea party. Or....I should say, they are caramel maccacittos or a frappuccino. Not tea. Lol
We have my 5 year old niece's party this weekend too. Apparently she is into My Little Ponies these days so that is what we went with. Personally I LOVED those when I was little. I think we had like an entire ranch worth of them.
