dd is still taking 2 naps and ds is a newborn so he sleeps all the time. I am just thinking about when dd goes to one nap and ds should be taking 2 naps - can he just take 1 when dd is naping? What is your nap schedule like with both kids and what are their ages? thanks

Re: nap schedule for 2u2?
DS is 18 months, DD is 2.5 months
I feared the possibility of DD napping, immediately followed by DS napping, immediately followed by DD napping again. I didn't want to be stuck in the house from 9-3.
As of now DS still naps twice and DD is on a 3 hour EASY schedule. Usually both of them are up by 7AM, so our day looks like this:
7:00 DD eat
8:00-10:00 DD nap
9:00-11:00 DS nap
10:00 DD eat
11:00-1:00 DD nap
1:00 DD eat
2:00-4:00 DS and DD both nap
4:00 DD eat
5:00-7:00 DD nap
7:00 eat
7:30 DS bedtime
DD will nap on the go, so our day isn't restricted. Usually I do what I need to do around the house during DS's morning nap- including making/packing lunch. As soon as he wakes up we go to the pool and we return for our afternoon nap time, during which I can prep dinner. The kids get plenty of rest and we aren't house bound. It's nice.
DD was still taking 2 naps a day until she was 22 months old, then she finally dropped to one nap and DS started napping when she was doing her long afternoon nap. DS is on the eat, play, sleep schedule. I didn't really "work" on getting him to nap when she did, he just kind of it did it on his own. I am not used to the 2 naps a day, my daughter was still taking 4, 40 minutes naps a day at his age.
DS takes a morning nap from 9:00am to 10:30am.
DD takes her afternoon nap from 12:30-until about 3:30 or 4.
DS takes his afternoon nap from 2:00-4:00.
In the morning, we have time to run an errand, go to storytime, DS therapy appointments, or the kids Little Gym classes. The afternoons are kind of hot here in AZ so we usually stay inside or go swimming when my husband is home. Both kids are usually up about 7:00 and in bed at 7:30.
Currently DD is 21 months and on one nap. DS is 7 months and on two naps.
Here's our day:
8 am - DS wakes for day
9 am - DD wakes for day
10 am - DS naps (till 12 pm)
1or2 pm - DD naps (till 4:30 pm)
2:30 pm - DS naps (till 4:30 pm)
7 pm - DS's bedtime
8 pm - DD's bedtime
Therefore, I usually get a ~2 hr break between 2:30-4:30pm. It's heavenly.
