Can you all recommend a folding potty for use when away from home? DS is scared of public bathrooms and sitting on the toilet. He is too short to stand most places!

we have this one. It is ok, but i don't like that the front is still split, so sometimes bad aim would result in big messes. Also, it dagged on some big toilets. But it got him over the fear of public potties thing so that now we just sit him sideways on the big seat and he's cool with it.

I got the Potette(sp?) travel potty set (BRU) for the same reason. Ds was freaked out by big restrooms. This one folds out flat to go right on the regular toilet, OR you can set it up so that it has "legs" and can sit on the floor. In the latter situation, you use a plastic (I KNOW!) bag that has an absorbent pad in it, and then toss that. We've used it for road trips when restrooms aren't convenient, and when restrooms are too gross, etc. It's a lifesaver. I am still on the first pack of bags that goes with it, because it really helped DS get over the public restroom/toilet thing by using it in the bathroom (usually the handicap stall), and now if we use it at all, we put it right on the big toilet. Only ever use the bags when we are stuck somewhere and he has to go in the back of the car.
edit: Ds also is too short, so for pee, he just stands on the toilet seat and I help him lean forward a little. In the early days, I literally held him like superman style over the toilets because he was terrified of touching them.

I've heard good things about the Potette Potty, too. But haven't any experience with it, myself.
