What songs do you sing to LO?

LO seems to like it when I sing to him, but I don't have many age appropriate songs in my repertoire. I mostly just sing along with whatever is playing on pandora at the time, and sometimes the lyrics of what I'm singing make my cringe..

Re: What songs do you sing to LO?

  • ABC song

Froggy Song (I forget the actual name)

    You Are My Sunshine

    Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

Pat-a-Cake (not really a song but whatever)

    Twinkle-Twinkle Little Star

    I'm a Little Teapot

    Wheels on the Bus

I also just make up songs with words about whatever we're doing (changing diapers, feeding bottles, ect.)... I'm sure if there were people around, they'd think I was nuts.

Find a camp counselor and have them teach you everything they know. All the songs we sing are camp songs. I also sing her songs from musicals, Disney movies, and our night time song is The Rose.

  • I bought a 3-CD set at Target that Parents magazine puts out with a bunch of nursery rhymes and lullabies. It's really nice!

  • About 75% of the songs I sing to all the kids are ones that I made up! I do them to the tune of popular songs and just add silly stuff! I always incorporate their names too. We get a lot of funny looks in the stores when I sing to them to distract them from flipping out on me, but it's all worth it!! My 4 year old now requests some of the made up songs. lol.

  • Ty likes hey ya by outlast and don't stop believing by journey!! Eta: that's when I'm trying to out him to sleep. Other than that I mainly just talk to him. I need to start singing more!
  • We swing sweet caroline to her for obvious reasons... then last night I was singing the hush little baby song but I would make up all kinds of random things that mommy was going to bring her.  It was pretty amusing to DH.

  • I sing some kid's songs (ABCs, Head Shoulders Knees and Toes, You Are My Sunshine, etc), some songs I like or sang in choir/voice (I like the lullaby All Through The Night).

I often end up changing the words to add her name in somewhere or just make up silly nonsense songs, like PPs.

  • I was just thinking yesterday that I need to sing to him more.  I can't usually come up with the lyrics unless I'm actually listening to a song, though, so usually I'll just put on my iPod and sing along.  Or if I have a song stuck in my head, I sing that to him.  The last few days it's been "Sweet Child of Mine" lol.

  • She gets a lot of hits of the 90's from me, because those are the songs I know by heart! She seems to really like elderly woman behind the counter in a small town by pearl jam.

  • You are my sunshine, Hush Little Baby, ABC's, Twinkle Twinkle Little star- I usually rotate those 4 because I actually know the words..LOL

  • I started singing to her (just now) "I'd Do Anything" from Oliver. I saw it on a commercial today and found a version with a woman and some children (not the Oliver version) and I rocked her back and forth while it played.

I sing whatever is on the radio while we are feeding too.
