compare 2 mo. vs 4 mo. shots

If your LO has had both sets already, compare how did he/she do at both? C did great after her 2 mo shots, hoping for the same experience with the 4 mo ones!

Re: compare 2 mo. vs 4 mo. shots

  • DD did great with her 2 mo shots, no side effects, no fussiness, little crying at time of shot but stopped soon after and then slept the rest of the day and night away.

Her 4 mo shots didn't go as well. She had a little redness and swelling at shot site, and then was very fussy the next day and she had a low grade fever. We gave her pedia care acetaminophen and that helped a lot. Fever went away and she was finally able to sleep.

  • K did really good with both sets of shots. She was really lethargic after her 4 month shots but the next day she was more alert.

  • 4 month was horrible.  He spiked a fever that night and was screaming bloody murder for a half hour straight.  I gave him aceteminophen an hour prior to the doctors, so maybe that helped him through the evening.  After giving him another dose of aceteminophen that night and a cool bath, he still continued to scream.  I wound up calling work, which is the emergency room, to speak to the charge nurse and get some advice.  She said it could take over an hour for the aceteminophen to kick in, and even though he was only 4 months, if he was still not better after 4 hours, give him a dose of motrin.  That worried me, because you're not suppose to give motrin until they're 6 months.  Thank goodness he finally calmed down.

I rambled a bit there, but it was just awful.  Maybe not horrible to some mothers, but I had never gone through that before with him.

  • Lucy did about the same with the 4 month shots as she did for the 2 month shots.  The only difference I noticed was that she wasn't as lethargic after the 4 month shots.  (She got one less though, so maybe that had something to do with it?)

  • Connor did great with the 2 month shots. No fussiness or side effects. However, with the 4 month shots he spiked a fever that lasted 2-3 days and his thighs became really swollen and red. I called the Pedi and they said it was normal, but told us what to watch for that wouldn't be normal. He wasn't fussy or anything, you could tell he just didn't feel good. We gave him tylenol and after a few days the fever was gone and his little legs returned to normal.

  • DD did great after 2 month shots just slept A LOT and didn't want much play.  We go today for her 4 mo and I will be giving baby tylenol 1 hr before.  Will let you know how it goes!
  • DD was fine for both. She slept more after the 2 month shots. Now she rarely naps anyway, lol!

  • I hate shots!! I cried more than my baby did for his first shots. His four month appointment is looming two weeks away and I already dread going. I hope he doesnt get a fever or anything, I'll be a nervous wreck. :(

Mommies is supposed to keep things from hurting, so why is it okay to let them stick my baby with needles?! I ask ya!  i hate shots... wish there was an alternative.

  • DD had 4 mo shots this Friday afternoon. By Friday at 10:30pm we were up with her crying an "i'm in pain cry" and running a fever. We gave baby Tylenol as much as the dosing would allow however her fever still came up to 102 it was very scary. She was up basically all night and very clingy/crying all day Saturday.  Her fever lasted about 30 hrs. then she was sore and kind of cranky after that.  It was a bit of a rough go but she is on the mend now.   Her 2 month shots were nothing like this. Slight fever but no big deal.
