I've had carpal tunnel in my right hand/wrist through most of the pregnancy. I'm in my 3rd trimister and my right wrist pretty much is useless. Its so depressing. But I just notice that with five weeks left my left wrist is now starting to act up too. Boo!! I'm so ready for this pregnancy to be over with and to get my normal hands, feets and clear face back!
Re: Really bad carpal tunnel in the 3rd trimister... :(
I had it bad in my 3rd trimester with my first two pregnancies as well. It was worse during the night and first thing in the morning .. I couldn't even bend my fingers. It goes away a few weeks after delivery.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
This Cluttered Life
I have it bad in my right wrist too, and I just started to get it in my right foot/ankle (apparently it can happen there too).
I found this works for pretty good temporary relief:
Bend your wrist downward (palm towards your forearm), and push down on it lightly with your opposite hand to you feel a good stretch. Hold for 45 seconds.
Hope it helps!
This is not very hopeful news for me!
I'm so OCD and is so ready to go back to being super woman. I'm afraid I won't be able to hold and enjoy the baby like I'm supposed to if its still acting up after pregnancy.
I had really bad carpal tunnel in the beginning of my 3rd trimester. My doctors office is closed on Saturday, but the chiropractor was open. I went for an adjustment to see if it would help. He told me that vitamin B6 helps with carpal tunnel in pregnant women and he was right. He told me to be very careful because you can overdose on it and to never take more than 100mg.
One of my OBGYNs, however, flipped out when I told her I was taking that much and flipped out when I asked if I could cut a pill in half. Lots of other women on my other pregnancy board have had their doctores tell them to take vitamin B6 for swelling, morning sicknes and carpal tunnel.
My non-crazy OB ok'ed me for 50 mg of vitamin B6 and I haven't had any problems since.
