Negative on dollar tree or walgreens, but positive on other tests?

I am on day 36 and still no AF which is late for. This would be somewhat of an opps for us. I didn't want to spend a ton on tests, but they came up negative. Anyone have this happen and then get positive on brand name tests. Not sure if I should splurge or just wait it out.

Different tests have different levels of sensativity. Go to www.peeonastick.com to compare the sensativities of the tests you took. Personally it's the kind of thing I would splurge on.

I would wait it out, I think it's more likely to get a false positive on cheapies rather than false negative.

I would try a brand name just to settle your mind a little. Although I did get an early positive on a dollar tree test my last pregnancy.

My doctor told me that once you get a positive, it's positive. She said to only be skeptical of the ones that are negative.

I used a cheap on from Dollar Tree one night. The line didn't appear until after the time limit, which the box said to disregard. So I took another one first thing the next morning. It was definitely positive.

If they were blue dye tests then I would doubt the negative. I have had bad luck with the blue ones (I did see evap lines) only to get a very dark positive on a pink dye one a few hours later.

I was negative on 6 dollar store tests, and positve on a clear blue easy digital test. It was about $9 at walmart and it came as a pack of 2 tests. Good luck.

PS. I was 5 days late for my period when I took the dollar tree tests and got negatives. I took the clear blue easy the same day and got a positive.

After what I considered a negative one a dollar store test, I bought a pack of Answer tests. Took one & there was NO doubt that it was positive. Good luck!

So, have you taken other tests? Or you are wondering if the cheapies could be false negatives (without having gotten any + test at all)?

Assuming you've only gotten negative tests, you probably aren't pregnant. Chances are, you O'd late, thus making your period "late". I'm guessing you weren't charting, so you have no idea when or if you have actually O'd.

& save your fingers, I know. You're "always a 28 day cycle, like clockwork, never late" blah blah blah. Things happen. Stress, sickness, whatever - they can all cause your O to delay. When you O late, you start your period "late". Take one test a week, until you either A) get a + get your period C) your cycle reaches 60 days. If it's C, call your doctor & get an appointment to see what's going on & possibly jump-start your cycle if you are, in fact, not pregnant.

Oh, & use protection. From now until you are ready for a baby. Every time.

ETA: Yes, you can get false negatives (you can also get false positives, especially on blue dye tests). But $ tree tests are some of the most sensitive. If you are REALLY worried, go buy a digital, but I wouldn't waste the money.

Fwiw I got a negative on dollar tests when I was getting positives on a cheapie and a walgreens digital.. but i also got a positve way early. 8 and 9 dpo.. However in your situation Id just wait.. if you dont chart like a pp said theres no way to really tell.

Yesterday, I got a negative with a $Tree test (using FMU) and a positive on a FRER, in the afternoon. I haven't had the best of luck with $tree tests.

The dollar store tests have been really, really light for me lately. Other brands were much darker.

I used a walgreen's test and there was a barely there line....I looked it up and it had something to do with the blue ink...rite had digitals on sale-so I went and got one and confirmed my belief, that I was expecting.

With the first one, I used a test with pink ink...needless to say, if I ever find myself pregnant again, I won't be going to walgreen's to get a test.
