Bananas

Have you tried bananas yet for those of us introducing solids?  Last night I had 3 bananas sitting there, so I decided to puree them.  I didn't have any lemons, so the puree turned brown of course.  Still tastes good.  And the whole time I was blending them, I was singing, "This sh!t is bananas.  B-A-N-A-N-A-S."

He seemed to enjoy it this morning.

But I was curious if adding lemon juice really does help keep the color...not that it matters...but I wonder how bad it alters the taste?

Re: Bananas

  • You shouldn't be able to taste it. Most fruit salads have lemon juice for color preservation as do cut up fruit to be served with dip. If done right you can't taste it at all

  • I don't know about the lemon juice thing, but I gave Landon bananas for the first time this morning. He made an awful face, but then gobbled them up!

They were a hit for us, too!  Bananas and butternut squash.  I'm so glad he loves the squash, because after I roasted that one, I got 4 ice cube trays out of it!  Looks like I'm set!  LOL

  • Landon LOVED squash! I can't believe it. Who would think babies would like squash?
  • Everytime I see the title of this post that damn song "Apples and Bananas" comes into my head...

I like to eat, eat, eat apples and bananas, A like to ate, ate, ata ... la la la

  • The devil came out in Jake today!  Ok...so a little bit of me came out in him.  He got hungry and wanted to eat NOW.  It was 4, and I was trying to hold off until 5 to feed him squash and a bottle.  He seemed satisfied playing on his mat.  All of a sudden...it hit....he TURNED....all red in the face and screaming.  I strapped him in his high chair, gave him a couple spoonfulls of squash...it was a no go.  The screaming continued.  I had to go the bottle route.  He was finally satisifed.  Even held the bottle on his own!  After the bottle we ate some squash.  But geez!

Landon does this sometimes. I used to feed him dinner at 5, but I've bumped it back to 4:45. Sometimes I just give him the bottle first and then the solids if he's too fired up.

I've also been putting him to bed earlier, starting bath at 7 instead on 7:30.
