It just feels like a lot of work to stock the freezer with stuff, and it's so HOT right now... Call me lazy, but I don't see the problem with having chinese food, pizza, greek takeout, etc. for 2 or 3 weeks after the baby comes. After that I'll be able to cook again, right? How long do you plan on having your "freezer stock" last for? I also am not really a fan of casseroles and I can't think of much that I'd put in the freezer and be excited to eat...
Am I crazy for not at least attempting to stock the freezer?

Re: Anyone else NOT stocking the freezer?
My Blog - Taking You Home
Us! I cannot think of anything worse than eating a casserole during the summer. Funny too, because I was all about stocking the freezer when we got pregnant but now that the time is here it seems silly to cook in this heat items we probably wouldn't eat now.
Our plan is just to have meats in the freezer to take out and grill. Add a salad and veggies. My parents are going to be here for two weeks also so I'm not overly worried about cooking in the first few weeks..
Other then buying some frozen pizzas, frozen veggies, some organic bean burritos that I LOVE and making sure I have a good stock of pasta and sauce - all things H can manage to make on his own - I have no plan to stock the freezer.
I plan I buying an extra box or two of cold cereal and some yogurt, things like that. But between H, my mom who lives 20 minutes away (she doesn't cook much but will go to the store with a list for me) and the 15 take out places in a 5 mile radius of our house, I'm pretty sure I wont starve for the first couple weeks LO is home.
I hate leftovers with the fire of a thousand suns. No way I am making freezer meals that I know I wont want to eat.
LOL. In addition to being a great cook, MH makes enough food for an army and we never eat the leftovers bc he always wants something else. I constantly tell him he needs to cut back.

We aren't. My mom will be there to help with cooking for 3 weeks and my mil also said that she would bring us dinners the first week.
Even if we didn't have help I know we could manage throwing something quick and easy together. I don't get the freezer meal thing.
We aren't and I didn't the first time - it was fine. Like pp said, we will grill, I have tons of quick and easy things like raviolis, spaghetti, chicken nuggets, and so on already in the rotation and DH is more than capable of making something. Plus family will be here off and on the first few weeks and they have no problem cooking for us, or grabbing take out.
I was reading a post a few weeks ago about stocking up on things like TP, PT, laundry detergent and preparing with tons of extras... it just seems like a lot of work to me. I can go to the store if I need to or DH can leave my side for an hour to grab some stuff. The only thing I made sure I have on hand and enough for a few days is pads.

My life has a superb cast but I can't figure out the plot.
We're getting lots of frozen pizzas and stuff for grilling in our freezer--I will have a few things made (but things I usually do anyway so not a big deal to make ahead of time).
I would do more if I had a bigger freezer
Us! I'm planning on buying some more convenient foods (frozen pizzas, chicken fingers for the kids, etc), but not really stocking up per se. I *do* plan to stock up on pop and crackers/cookies, however, just to have on hand when people come over. I found that was very helpful since it's no work to put out a plate of cookies and some pretzels for visitors, but still makes me feel like I'm being hospitable.
Oh, and I do plan to stock up on easy snack items for the kids - juice boxes, crackers in individual packages, yogurt, etc. Easy stuff they can grab themselves for the first few weeks.
Didn't do it with DS #1 and not planning on doing it now.
I would however like to get some new crock pot recipes in the mix
We're only making enough things for 1-2 weeks and no they are not all casseroles
We don't like processed foods so buying frozen meals and getting takeout is just not in the cards for us. We are fortunate though that both our mothers will be bringing us food/cooking for us and our church will do a 3 week meal delivery as well.

My H is the better cook and doesn't really like frozen/reheated meals. He does about half the cooking now, so I doubt he'll mind doing all of it for a couple of weeks while he's off from work.
I'll stock the pantry, though - our grocery store isn't convenient.
People tend to think they will be completely laid up after their baby is born. You will still be able to cook when you get home from the hospital. Also, the first night home after DS we had chinese, the second was pizza. Other than that, I made breakfast and lunch. I also made dinner the third night home and was just fine.
If you stock anything, I would stock basics, like bread and stuff for sandwiches, easy breakfast foods, and easy snacks. The main purpose is to keep you from running to the store and to have stuff on hand, which is a pain anyway.
Nah. I'm not stocking my cooking/stocking my freezer. I don't know what the big fuss is about cooking meals and having them in the freezer. The meals would still have to be unthawed and heated up. Why not just eat something fresh that only takes a few minutes to make?
I'm cool with making a quick sandwich or having some takeout if I don't feel like actually cooking a meal and DH can watch the baby if I need to go to the store for something. Life goes on, even with a newborn.
