Neosure users?

Did your Lo tolerate Neosure ok? I am asking because lately I noticed that it makes my LO very very gassy. I have used gas drops but they seem to really do nothing. She does take the bottle well while feeding but after she is done she is full of gas and grunts and squirms as well. She does burp well but the last 3 feedings she has spit up a lot so I am thinking maybe she cant tolerate Neosure. I was thinking how long do they need to be on this because I know there is a formula for spit up and gassiness made by Silimac. Is anyones LO on that formula and how are they doing on it?

I've seen these comments about Neosure a LOT - so I know that's common. It's just occuring to me that they are eating only neosure? DS has BM that we had to enhance with Neosure for extra calories. He was on that for about two months and it didn't cause any problems...but maybe because he was on such a small amount? Never considered that. Anyway, have you checked with your pedi?

The boys were fine with Neosure but we switched to Enfacare since my pedi has samples. I think (not sure though) that it has fewer ingredients then the Similac but still has the extra calories, so it might be a little bit gentler. As far as how long they have to be on the formula, it depends on how they are growing and if there are any special restrictions (fluid restriction, etc) but it seems to range from 6mo-1yr. DS is currently using this in the hospital. When mixed with the milk I pump and I will continue using this after he gets discharged. He does get gassy but not too often but the nurses said that he is getting the gas from the extra calories he is getting.

He is gassier with neosure than with breast milk. But, I assume that would be the case with any formula.

Overall he tolerates it fine though. He takes 2 two ounce bottles a day.

My girls are still on Neosure and almost 10 months old. We did switch for a little bit to Enfacare b/c of WIC but we are back on Neosue now. It does make us gassy, but at this point I think most formulas are going to do that to a preemie baby and then baby food will and cereal and so forth. We did gas drops every morning with our bottle. Just consistantly stick with the drops and do everything to help release the gas for your baby. It does get better and the older they get the better their tummies get.

We are using Neosure exclusively because I had supply issues. He is taking about 24 oz of it a day. We use the powder & mix it. It does make our little guy gassy & we have had to use the gas drops. We use Dr. Browns bottles & I ordered a Dr. Brown's formula mixing pitcher off of Amazon to also help decrease the amount of air bubbles in the formula. The directions state that you can mix enough formula for 24 hours so that is what we do. Every day I mix up my bottles for the next 24 hours. This has helped us. As long as the formula is refrigerated it's good for 24 hours. Oh & I burp him about every oz or so to help. I would definitely talk to your pedi though. Good luck!

Kevin has been on Neosure since April and we love the Dr. Brown's pitcher. I found that the rice we were using to thicken his formula made him gassy but when we switched to oatmeal, that wasn't an issue.

A had the opposite problem. She was gassy on Neosure but when the hospital switched to the Enfamil version she was twice as gassy so we switched back to Neosure.
