Still refusing bottles

We are just now at 4 weeks and have tried a handful of times and one night last weeks she let MH give her one. I was so relieved because I am going back to school in the fall and will need to leave her for class and clinicals. I also have CPR renewal coming up and will need to be without her for the 4 hour class. He tried again a few nights later and all hell broke loose!

HELP! What can we try to get her to take a bottle? She hates all foreign nipples, wont take a pacifier, she just isn't having any of it! Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Re: Still refusing bottles

  • Well, she won't die if you're gone 4 or 5 hours. Lots of babies sleep that long, and they don't starve to death. She may not be happy, but even if she refuses for that time, she'll survive.

There are some general suggestions here . Babies are often easier to fool if they're sleeping - your DH could try sneaking a bottle into her when she's in a light phase of sleep. All you can really do is keep trying - and know that she'll get what she needs when she's with you. That will mean she tries to eat all night if she doesn't eat all day, though.

  • Hopefully she'll get the hang of it!

My DD will only take a bottle if it is very warm and if she is sitting in another seat and not being held.
