So MIL wasn't that bad. I brought down a bunch of food but she paid for the rest. Boys had a blast playing with their cousins.
SIL set the menu and asked for suggestions. I gave them. She did not take any of them and then printed out several color copies of her menu plans and put them all over the beach house. We ended up eating the food we brought plus fresh fruit.
Um, I've discovered SIL is nasty. More nasty than I knew. What makes it worse is she has a Masters in health.
Her breakfast menus included such lovelies as biscuits and gravy with sausage and bacon. I renamed it to "heart attack before you are 10".
What really bothered me is what she fed her kids.
They all drank about 4 Cokes a day. For breakfast they had biscuits and gravy or biscuits and bacon and butter with huge glasses of Sunny D.
For lunch, salami and pepperoni sandwich with real mayo OR 25 crackers with squeeze cheese and for dinner it was all fried. Snacks revolved around different flavored Doritos.
Please Jamie Oliver...come to their house and save these children. Fruit and veggies, not slathered in oil and butter, are good things.
Gross. Gross. Gross.

So glad you guys survived.
Squeeze cheese and 4 cokes??? I just threw up in my mouth. Home sweet home. It always feels a tad sweeter when you can be back to doing things your way.
I am glad you had fun and the kids enjoyed their cousins.
As for the food....YUCK! Seriously, even low income families can easily navigate the grocery store for WIC choices which are clearly displayed. High calorie breakfasts are not so bad since you generally burn off at least that during the day, but lunch and dinner need to be much lighter and no cokes/doritos combos. Besides, aren't real cokes, doritos and Sunny D all pretty expensive?
UGH. I guess it's a good thing that you had to bring your own food?
