Re: Mommies backside.... Def TMI

  • Ugh, I can write a book about post-partum booty issues. Some how when I was having J my butt tore and the doctor had to stitch me. This caused 'roids a few weeks ago. I've been having problems going to the bathroom for 6 weeks now. It freaking sucks. I wasn't hopeful that my OB will be able to help.

I've been taking stool softeners and eating a ton of fiber. The only thing i've noticed so far is an increase in farts and my inability to control then. I farted on my neighbors porch the other day. Talk about embarrassing.

ETA : The bleeding you are experiencing maybe hemorrhoids and not things ripping. If it feels like you are pooping out porcupines, try witch hazel pads to clean after you have a BM and then get some Preparation H, I just got the store brand, and it helps a lot.

  • Me me me!!! I ripped a big hemorrhoid during labour (10 weeks ago almost) and I STILL can't go to the bathroom without bleeding. I eat lots of fiber, drink a sh!t ton of water and somehow I have the largest poops that hurt like an SOB. I've got an appt with my OB on the 28th, I want to make sure that nothing is seriously wrong.

I'm so glad you posted this. I was in Such discomfort last night, I turned DH down for some loving because of it, but didn't really want to explain it to him that it was a burning hemorrhoid putting the damper on the mood. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one.

  • Me too. Ouch is all I have to say. I dread it every time I have to go. I can't stand prunes so my OB recommended dried apricots. They help and are less disgusting to me. I don't think it is going to get better until I stop breastfeeding.

  • It took about 7 weeks after my first baby for pooping not to be a terrifying experience, and months more before I felt back to normal at all.

It's been better this time but still not back to normal yet.

  • It comes and goes for me. I have days where it is so hard to go and i bleed and some days where it is business as usual. AND i am back on metformin, if you know anything about met you know it isn't normal to have issues going so I can't imagine what it would be like other wise!

  • I wasn't even going to reply because I am pretty humiliated by what is going on, but unfortunately I know exactly what you are talking about. I haven't even told DH because I am so embarrassed.

I read that a lot of pregnant and PP women are misdiagnosed with 'roids when they actually have an anal fissure, which sounds like what you are saying. A fissure has been described as feeling like you are "passing glass", which is terribly accurate. Slathering Prep-H on it like it is a 'roid won't really help. I haven't told my OB because there really isn't much they can do except, at some point, refer you to a proctologist, who may recommend surgery. Seriously. But I have an appointment on Monday and if my new regime isn't helping, I will have to tell her.

There is a website I found with lots of plans people have sent in on how they healed their fissure, there is even a section for pregnant/nursing mothers. Hope this helps someone: https://www.boardsailor.com/jack/af/

As fo me, I finally reached max discomfort and put myself on a strict plan (similar to mom #9 on the website): drink at least a gallon of water a day, take 2 Colace in the morning and 2 at night, take fiber gummies, eat mostly fruits and veggies and lean proteins (which is hard to get enough cals since I EBF), and follow the very crass advice of "Would this food hurt if I put it up my butt? Then don't put it in your mouth". And "If you think you have to give up BFing, then you are not getting serious. Get serious". I can't take the pain anymore so I am trying to get very serious!

  • I was having so many problems with my backside that I brought it up to my MW.  It felt like I was pooing barbed wire and was bleeding very badly.  She prescribed me Anamantle Hc (got the generic) and it's really helped.  She told me to try it for a week and if it didn't get better, she'd send me to a GI doctor.

There are medicines that they try before surgery.  I've been using it for a little over a week and it's not perfect, but a lot better!

  • can i just say how happy i am that ya'll are 2 months pp, like myself, and are having problems too?  Sorry, but i'm just glad to not be alone.  my problem is that have don't have the balls enough to say anything to my dr.  It's not as bad as it was-it usually made me cry-but I now take collace everyday.  i know i can't go on like this forever, but i don't actually want to discuss this with anyone face to face.  Blah!
