S/O of privates-diaper change touching

DD has been in the habit of touching herself when we change her diaper for a long time. It's annoying only because she tends to, ahem, get her hands dirty at times, which becomes an even bigger mess, particularly if she puts her hands on her face or body during the changing. When does this phase get over?????

    Ha!  I don't think it ever goes away.  I think its a common misconception that only boys like to explore their parts :)

    When Layna has a poopy diaper and tries to touch, I take her hand and say, No.  Poop, dirty.  I want her to connect the poop with being dirty, not that touching herself is wrong or dirty.  So when she tries during a wet diaper change, I just say Excuse me!  so I can put the fresh diaper on.

    DD was in the habit in touching down there (during diaper changes, baths, etc.) for several months and it has pretty much stopped since right before her second birthday. She doesn't like to be dirty so I would tell her not to touch or poop would get on her hands and that worked for diaper changes.
