AW: Gwyn is one! and an update on us... long

Hello ladies, I haven't posted in a while, but I lurk several times a week right now, just so busy that there is little time to post.

Today is Gwyn's first birthday.  I am so happy and so sad all at once.  My baby is growing up and I am so proud of all that she has accomplished in the last year.  On the other hand I am so sad for her due to my current marital situation.  I always thought she would be one of several children, now she may be an only, not to mention my heart breaks every weekend when she has to leave to see xh.  I do know that this is the best for her and I, but it still makes me immensely sad that this is the reality of things.

Gwyn is doing really well with EI.  She crawls and pulls up now and causes all sorts of mischief when I let her.  She should even walk in the next several months, she is really catching up.  We still have no words but she is vocal with sounds and laughter.

I am starting school in August.  I have decided that if I can not have more babies, then I would love to see them,  So I am starting an A.S.  and will transfer to my local medical university in two years to learn u/s.  I know I have a lot of work ahead of me, but am looking forward to getting into a routine soon.

Gwyn will be starting daycare when I start school.  I am having a hard time with the closest one to me as they are not sure they can give her the prescription formula.  She is on Neocate and will be for the next several months minimum.  If you had LO's on special formula and did daycare how did this work?  They are medication certified, so I am not understanding what the problem is.

Xh is still trying to patch things up, but I am staying strong.  Things at home although more difficult financially are working out much better.  We are all much calmer most of the time.  (I live with my brother and SIL, plus their two kids who are both under two!)

Thanks if you made it this far. I <3 you all.

  • Happy Birthday Gwyn!

I am so glad you decided to post today. You are a strong mama doing what you need to do. Gwyn is making great progress which is wonderful! Hang in there!

  • Happy birthday Gwyn. Good for you for going back to school. My bro is divorced and he hates it when the girls go to his ex-wifes. (she is crazy and not a good mother).

  • My DD is on Neocare, and our daycare didn't bat an eye about giving it to her!  And, I should add, they are intense about following state regulations.  (Which is a good thing, I suppose!)

What are they claiming to be the problem?

Our daycare doesn't give any medication whatsoever, but I can only assume that they consider the formula food rather than medication, so there's no problem so long as I bring her bottles in already mixed/ prepared.

eta:  How could I leave off?? - Happy birthday Gwyn!!  :)

  • Happy birthday to Gwyn!  She sounds like she is doing great.  I know this has been a tough, tough year for you but I'm glad that you are moving forward and going back to school.  Hope her second year is full of joy for you both!

They are trying to tell me it is considered medication.  I tried to explain to the woman in charge that there is nothing in it that could hurt another child but that another child's formula could hurt Gwyn.  She was still really uneasy about the formula stating she needed to check regulations

That's rediculous!  It's just an emelental formula -- a perscription is often written, but it's still just formula!  In fact, I didn't know this but I just googled and Neocate's website said that a perscription isn't required at all, you can order directly from the company (as if you could afford to pay for it out of pocket!)

Sounds like she's just unfamiliar with it.  Hope she comes to her senses soon :)

Thanks, I will be calling tomorrow, and will speak with her and bring her the article if necessary
