If your LO sleeps in a bassinet

Have they been getting up against the side of it at night? I've woke up on more than one occasion and LO had his face in the side of the bassinet which scares me and I'm getting up alot to check and make sure he is still in the center. What have you done to prevent it?

Re: If your LO sleeps in a bassinet

  • DS always rolls and wiggles onto the same side, so I put him on a slight diagonal that causes his feet to hit the side first when he does roll. It usually prevents him from getting the rest of him over to the side.

  • I've noticed this a few times actually. But ours is mesh like on the sides, so very breathable material. Maybe you can try rolling up some receiving blankets and placing them on either side of LO. Kind of like a sleep positioner?

  • DD has yet to end up on the side but I have her on a possessioner (sp) Maybe that helps.

  • I haven't had this issue but I agree with trying to position LO so that he doesn't roll.
  • She ALWAYS squirms to the side. We had to buy a new bassinet for this reason. The first one only had the mesh in one certain spot which she quickly grew out of. We got a new one that has mesh all around to allow for breathing. I try to move her during the night, but she always squirms to the side. I also find myself waking up often to make sure she is breathing and to try to move her.

Out of curiosity, which side does your LO squirm to? Mine squirms towards me, so I wonder if babies squirm closer to their mom's?

  • He wiggles close to the sides and even ends up flipping around in his sleep.  The bassinet I have has mesh sides so its breathable.

  • No, but ours has mesh sides.  So, I wouldn't be worried if she did.
