Received an email from DS school this morning saying that tomorrow is Pizza day for all kids 18mos and up...
Need ideas on Dairyfree and Egg Free pizza recipes.
He's also peanut free and soy "lite" (can handle a small amount but too much and he'll react to it).
I plan on hitting up Whole Foods at lunch today...
TIA
Re: Pizza Day at DC
First of all, if that was me i would say ABSOLUTELY NO!! i would never allow my DC to have a pizza day while my son is allergic to dairy. Why can't they celebrate with stickers? or art?
i never noticed how much we reward with food and everything is about food when it can easily be fun art project. I'm obviously going to have a hard time when my son goes to school.
You did write that he has a "light" allergy so hopefully it will be ok but all i keep thinking about is the kids touching everything and then your child being exposed.
Here is a Pizza Dough i make and i just put marinara sauce and dayia cheese on top.
He goes to a center and the entire center is having pizza day, just not his class. They had ice cream day a couple weeks ago that was a mess and sent my son into a melt down becasue all his friends had ice cream and he didn't... OY!
the joys of having a kid with food allergies.
only the beginning of him not being able to have what his friends at school eat.
that's hard! i'm sure there are other kids with FA in the center if it's big.
i'm going to cry when my son realizes he's "different" and can't have what his friends have. Now it's easy, we leave and ta-da. Allergies suck!
Most pizza doughs don't have eggs in them. I also make calzones with pizza dough I make and then I put pepporoni, chicken, beef and garlic with tomato sauce inside. You can add Daiya cheese if you choose but there is so much flavor you don't need it. This might be easier to transport and it would be a super cool pizza (or weird because it looks different.)
Yea - I'm glad you found a solution and that your LO can be included in the fun!
I'm assuming your DC already has a hand washing after meals and no sharing rule in place. I would just ask that the staff be extra vigilant about wiping down the tables and chairs after the pizza party to avoid contact reactions.
My twins are 5! My baby is 3!
