I would love to be able to wear my DD while out and about and not have to pull out the giant stroller, but so far it doesn't seem to keep her content long enough. I have tried the moby and hate it because it is so hard to get right and put the baby in. I have a chicco carrier that she is a little too floppy in. I just bought an infantino wrap/carrier that I tried today and like it so far but she didn't last long in it before she started to cry. She is not one that like to be held a ton, but will be happier if I am moving around.
Did your little one take a while to get used to wearing?
Thanks in advance!
Re: Did your LO have to get used to wearing?
A lot of children are happier in a carrier when the parent is moving. No worries about that part.
As for your attempts so far: Have you thought about getting some in-person help to get your stretchy wrap on easily & correctly? Also, I almost always find that soft-structured carriers (like the Chicco) do not work well with very little ones. Do you think that your baby's comfy in the mei tai? Have you tried legs-out and legs-in? Doyyou know if your LO have a preference?
Sometimes the baby can sense the parents unease, nervousness or frustration with a carrier and react to that. Of course, some people will swear that their LOs simply DO NOT like being carried in a carrier. I'm not sure. DD has been worn almost daily since she was 2 days old.
I think that some babies just don't like to be worn, and imo it's not worth forcing on them. DD2 hated the moby. I felt like it took way too long to figure out from my perspective, and then since DD2 is a big baby (and I'm only 5'4"), she never fit quite right. She was always happy to be carried up above my shoulder so she could see everything. She just hated to be so confined.
When she was 6 months, we got the ergo for a vacation. She did really well in that walking around Disneyworld, walking on the beach, etc. We still use it now for hiking and some walks, basically places where the stroller isn't convenient. She likes the stroller, and I like being able to throw what we need in the basket underneath it. I'll use the ergo when we go shopping if she fell asleep in the car too. I can transfer her from her carseat, and she'll go back to sleep for her nap. But really for the most part, she wants to be walking now or still carried up higher.

DD was finally comfortable with being worn around 4-5 months. As a newborn, she was on the large side and didn't "nestle" into the moby or hotsling to the point where I felt she was secure in there + being sort of squished in there made her spit up. She much preferred being carried.
When I discovered mei tei's all was well with BWing and we used that sucker until she was busting out of it, well past 12 months. We also used the hotsling a lot for hip carries.
Yes, I think she is just a little small for the chicco carrier still. I have been using the mei tai around the house and have been able to fold some laundry and cook a little, so that is good. I have been doing legs out, but not sure how to do legs in. I wish I had started early with her, but just getting used to everything else I wasn't thinking about babywearing yet!
Thanks for your thoughts and I love all your pics!
I am going to check out the ergo also. People really seem to like it.
