DS got his vaccine today, since it is a live virus I brought up the question, what if I am pregnant? She said I shouldn't get pregnant for minimum 1 month after DS recieved the vaccine.
Has anyone else had to deal with this? We have been TTC, but I haven't been charting or anything like that.
My gut feeling is that it will all work out fine, either way. Am I wrong?
Re: Chicken Pox Vac
Yup, I was about 12 weeks, when DS got his vaccine. I was also about 8 weeks pregnant with DS1 when DD got her vaccine.
Same here. I was 8 weeks, I think, when DD got hers. I had chicken pox as a child, so in theory I'm immune even if DD had developed them.

What does it matter for YOU if HE got the vaccine?
Don't get it yourself, and I'd think you'd be fine....

DS got this Vax 2 months ago at his 15 month and I was 4 months pregnant. I did ask about it, because I had heard that I shouldn't be around a child/adult who actually had chicken pox because of the risk to the fetus (even though I had chicken pox as a child).
The pedi said that I was perfectly safe and that DS would not be contagious, even if the vax made him develop some of the symptoms.
I think it's because there is a very small risk that the child could develop chicken pox symptoms because it's a live vaccine.

The fear that surrounds this vaccine and pregnant women is that if the pregnant woman is to contract the chicken pox while pregnant, the fetus is in immediate danger of developing serious birth defects. My DS' pediatrician wouldn't even offer it to us because I was pregnant.
It didn't matter that I told the pedi that I had already had the chicken pox when I was younger, he still wouldn't have given it to DS.
Yep.. me too. I was just in 2nd tri when she got hers, too.
